Dinner and breakfast was fabulous! Cocktails were yummy as well! Waitress for dinner was outstanding!!! Bed was a bit too soft but that’s because I’m a tummy sleeper. ☺️
-
needed a foot stool to get into the bed. the bathroom was the size of a clothes closet and the sink was right next to the bed

Authentic New England Inn Athmosphere. Need walk on icy driveway in the morning. Very slippery.

From the time we met Olivia, to the beauty of the old manor, it was pleasure to experience a stay with you. The milled woodwork/molding, etc. made the trip and stay worth it. Please know, the renovated bathroom was appreciated. Now, your new chief Correy is absolutely an amazing cook, and the meals were 5 Star worthy. From the perfectly seared scallops over the most amazing pumpkin risotto, to my insanely HUGE prime rib that was the size of the plate and could have been cut with a butter knife. Also, desserts to die for! Your breakfast is at the top of our list with Inn at Elis River. In fact, due to the impressive service and the nice, non-rushed feel, along with perfectly cooked eggs and awesome hash, you are now our #1. Your wait staff and for both dinner and breakfast were absolutely fabulous. Cheers to whom ever found them and locked them in. Even the host Saturday night that sat us was charming and well dressed. I truly feel bad for The Wentworth for letting a chief like the one you just hired go. Really a huge loss on their part and a fantastic gain for the Stonehurst! Every table around us was saying how delicious their meals were. Noe: The warm, pillowy soft, cake with caramel sauce and vanilla ice-cream (coming from a family who owned a bakery for 54 years Boston) was PERFECTION! Also, stunning mountain views from your Adirondak chairs on the hillside. Such a great spot to enjoy a bottle of wine. Botton line, we definitely would return! The description was a 4-poster bed, for us, not a deal breaker. But, for those who would have loved the 4-poster bed experience, the plain headboard, leaning towards contemporary would have disappointed them. Also, Queen Superior Manor Room is very misleading. It's an average room with dated furniture, but again, that's not something that bothers us, since we prefer vintage and old fashion. However, for another couple they'd view it as outdated and not worth the money. PLEASE if and when you do your next restoration/renovation get rid of the red carpets in the bedroom. It really dates it and does not enhance the beauty of the room. Without them, and back to hardwood, if it's in decent condition underneath, it would make you look past the older dresser and nightstand. Just a thought. Renovated bathroom a plus. Comforter on the bed had mold stains at the edges. We folded it down and didn't use it, but another guest would be outraged and come back down to the main desk to complain. Housekeeping needs to spot check for this. Especially since it was at the top where the comforter meets your neck and face. You need new pillows. No support whatsoever and just old. I respect the expense and investment to purchase new, but for the type of Inn you're trying to be, it's expected. I agree with another reviewer, the wonderful experience walking through your front doors, and into the formidable/amazing lobby and bar area, to the lovely dining rooms, and very impressive personnel, just doesn't match the rooms. One more point; The beautiful dining rooms, lower level, tables near the large windows that oversee the pool and gardens. Please remove the screens and vacuum out the spiderwebs/cobwebs. It's tough to enjoy the tremendous meals your new chief puts out, when sitting next to dirty windows full of cobwebs. So sorry - it needed to be noted.

The meals were both prepared by skilled chefs; not short order cooks. Fine dining without pretension. Other guests were quiet and well mannered. No loud or obnoxious tables which is a nice change. The servers were cheerful and mature with lots of experience. We would have loved to stay in the main building, but I think the rooms were all taken. We will be back to experience the four posters with fireplaces.

The atmosphere Don’t have onsite dinner on the day I stayed

The breakfast and dinner were good The place it self not worth the money. Very run down, not clean. The room you get does not look like the pictures.

We did not stay overnight. When we checked in we found that our room was on the third floor. I hesitated to take it, as I nearly 80 years old and have bad knees. Went up 1st. flight of stairs ok. Got to 2nd. flight...very steep with a turn in them. Went back to the office and as I expected, they were fully booked. As they was no way I could get up that 2nd. flight, never mind get down, we left and never stayed the night or ate at the Inn. No courtesy in assigning someone to that room without informing them where and how it is located. Assignment of room location.

The desk staff were friendly and very helpful. The manor was charming and our room was comfortable. Meals were an issue. Long waits and slow /inattentive service was a fairly consistent problem over the two days of our stay. The food was sometimes cold, sometimes overcooked, and was generally disappointing. I reported my concerns with the front desk and they were appreciative of the criticism so I’m hopeful they can get that area on track. I will nite it was end of season and staffing can be an issue, so I won’t write this establishment off…just have to wait and see.

The ambiance of the property and location. We had a pet friendly unit and we were very comfortable. Could have done with a fridge though for added convenience. Staff shortages for food service. Took the fun out of it when you have a packed day planned of site seeing. Every day we were delayed with breakfast and every evening once back and exhausted we had to wait forever for our dinner. Not great
