Room needs updates. Bad plumbing, room smelled like mild dew furniture worn out.

The physical place itself was manicured. The buildings looked like you were back during the start of our country. Everyone was very friendly and helpful.

On a good note they serve an amazing complimentary breakfast on the weekend.

I liked the beautiful grounds and historic buildings, however, what is interesting historically isn’t necessarily ideal living in a modern age. The room was small, lacked a coffee maker anywhere near the room, and the ceilings in the room and bathroom were damaged and peeling. The bed was comfortable, but had only a thin cotton coverlet, with a similar one in the closet. The food, which was catered for a wedding, was uninspired and average.

Everything was great but the room was freezing. Not sure why the temp was at 60 degrees? I turned it off. A warm blanket in the closet would have been nice. Also, consider putting coffee pot in the rooms. It’s nice not to have to dress and go find coffee early in the morning.

This is a hidden gem!

Really enjoyed the character of the property.

What a beautiful place to stay - pristine and quiet. The breakfast buffet was delicious and eating out on the patio was a delightful way to start the day.

Dinner was great!

Lovely property. Helpful staff. Clean rooms. Adequate breakfast. Only issue was that we could not control the temperature in our room. Both heating and cooling controls were in other areas and connected to other rooms beside ours.

Breakfast is only available on the weekends from 8-9:30. We were upstairs and I should note I'm 6'3", our room had gables and the ceiling was in the way of my head in the bathroom and on one side of the bead, plus there were lots of steps up to the room. Not a show stopper, but next time we'll stay downstairs

Beautiful location and comfortable rooms. Some of the furnishings felt a bit dated but it was still really nice.

The courtyard setting and grounds are beautiful and well maintained. Flowers and trees are well trimmed and well cared for. The exterior appearance of the facilities are very appealing. The staff is very cordial, courteous and provided a very positive customer experience. The company appears to have good hiring practices as evidenced by seemingly happy and loyal employees. The interior premises differed greatly in quality and appearance from the exterior. Grout in shower was old as exhibited by black areas between the tiles. Shower lacked fan to disperse humidity when showering. Walls and woodwork needed painting. Air vents were dirty and ceiling area near ceiling access trap was dirty. The sink drained very slowly not permitting running water very long or letting the dirty water drain properly. Although the room rate was quite reasonable, we expected high quality cleanliness and maintenance regardless of price. We were in room 203 in the building that houses the restaurant and bar.

The room was fine but small. The hot water did not last to fill the tub and the jets did not work. We were told there was breakfast the next day, but then the next morning told hot breakfast was only on weekdays.

First, the food was exceptional. I had both the filet and the salmon during my stay, and I’m fairly certain I’ll be dreaming about those meals for a long time. Beautifully prepared, perfectly cooked, and genuinely memorable. If you visit, make time for lunch or dinner (or both!). The conference facilities and historic buildings are equally impressive. The entire property is absolutely gorgeous, full of character and history, and impeccably appointed. Our meeting space was elegant, comfortable, and provided a wonderful setting for a professional event. Everywhere you look, there’s another charming architectural detail or thoughtfully designed space. Overall, Joseph Ambler Inn excels when it comes to atmosphere, dining, and event spaces. The property is stunning, and the restaurant alone is worth a visit. However, basic room maintenance and reliable hot water are fundamental expectations, and my overnight stay fell short in those areas. I’d happily return for a meal or another conference, but I hope the guest room issues receive the same level of attention as the rest of this beautiful historic property. Unfortunately, my guest room was a very different experience. The shower had visible black mold where the shower walls met the floor, which was unpleasant and concerning. Even worse, there was no hot water. The shower handle would not turn beyond the midpoint, and after letting the water run for nearly twenty minutes, it remained cold. I eventually gave up and started my morning with a cold shower I never intended to take. That's not the kind of wake-up call anyone wants before a full day of meetings.

I liked everything. Some paint chipping on corners, fine ! Years ago, there was a crazy owner … who was absolutely nuts. The facility seems normal NOW, although I think they lost a lot of customers due to him.

We had a two queen room that was quite large. The room had nice beds and high ceilings, but no fridge or microwave. I know there was one in the lobby, but would have been nice to have one in the room.
