Joseph Ambler Inn

The grounds are beautiful and the restaurant is excellent. But my room was surprisingly dirty and worn. Music from outdoor entertainment on weekends intruded into the room. J. Ambler offers a variety of rooms of different quality located in various buildings on the premises. My recommendation is to avoid booking a room in The Barn building, the location of the restaurant and bar. Speak with the front desk first before booking a reservation.

Location, staff and overall property are nice. You can even use the local gym facility which I didn't know booking the stay. Sadly I didn't have the necessary attire for it. Our shower floors were filthy. Tub didn't work.

The staff at both the hotel and the restaurant were fantastic. Our meals were great and the room was clean, quiet and comfortable. Nothing more we could ask for.

Absolutely beautiful and charming grounds with ample parking. Historic and pretty buildings. The indoor/outdoor restaurant is just lovely. Enjoyable evening entertainment in the restaurant area when we were there on a Friday evening. Nice breakfast. Staff is helpful and friendly.

Absolutely lovely. Felt peaceful and remote but just a short drive to many things. Restaurant area was lovely and convenient to all rooms. Every staff member I met was wonderful. Recommend! Nothing. Literally nothing.

We had an amazing stay- parking was great, rooms comfy and staff friendly.

This was one of the cutest places we ever stayed. The old home was so different from your typical hotel. The staff were all so friendly and the property was gorgeous. We sat out on the covered porch after we walked on the trail at the 202 bypass. So convenient for a quick workout before starting our day.

The property is beautiful and the grounds are just lovely. The rooms are tired and need an over haul. It will be stunning once they renovate the rooms.

Absolutely love our stay.

Relatively convenient location for the event we were attending. Interesting layout of buildings on a beautiful piece of land. Some charms in decoration and landscaping. Ample parking. Very confusing booking process - no written confirmation of booking or cancellation if booked directly w hotel by phone. A few staff we interacted with during booking were rude and even insulting. Thankfully a couple of ladies were nice and helpful. Checkin staff simply handed over an envelope w room card. No warm welcome nor explanation of how to get to the rooms - multiple buildings in charming but confusing layout. Some rooms have shared AC control in the hallway. But no one explained at checkin. So in the middle of the night we were frozen to death but couldn’t find the temperature control. Pathetic breakfast items. No luggage storage.

Definitely a step down from previous experiences. Dated rooms. Understaffed. Terrible breakfast to go. Disappointed. Plenty of better options in the area.

The room was fine, except there are no individual climate controls, grateful for the extra blanket since the AC was cold. Breakfast is "grab and go," but by the time I got to reception, there wasn't much to "grab." Please do check your reservation carefully if you book through a third party. We had booked three rooms, and only one was reserved. Also please be careful about billing. Even though they said there was only one reservation, they put two rooms on my credit card. Which was it - only one room reserved or two for billing purposes? Just be careful when reserving here.
