Westgate Lakes Resort & Spa Universal Studios Area

The hot tub at the main pool was not working. The wave pool was also out of service during my stay. The hot tub in my villa was in unacceptable condition. It was full of hair, and I had to remove and clean the filter myself three separate times before it was even usable. Only one of the barbecue grills was working, and even then, only half of the grill was functioning properly. On the day I returned from the parks, the building where the restaurant and market are, lost power. I understand this may have been beyond the hotel's control, but it still had a significant impact on my stay. I wasn't able to have dinner because I was relying on the market and the restaurant being open. Finally, when I booked through Expedia, the listing indicated that breakfast was available ("for a fee"). However, when I arrived, I was told that the restaurant was closed, so breakfast was not available at all.

I feel ok about Westgate Lakes Resort & Spa because I had to pay for resort fees yet some of the days I was not able to use the amenities as they were closed. Also, the room I booked had a kitchen and had to re-wash some of the dishes as they were dirty. Another thing I did not like was that I am already paying for resort fees, why do I have to pay more to use the game room or to get in to the water park.

The air conditioner doesn’t work. It wouldn’t go below 76°. I called and nothing was done about it. We lost power at the resort Internet and Wi-Fi. Thank God it was the last night. They only cleaned the rooms when you call them so if you want your room cleaned every day, you have to call every day.

Water park is alot smaller than the pictures. Discount for the park was over price for the size.

There was no issues with the room but we did not know you had to purchase a ticket or day pass to enter the large pool area.

Super clean in friendly staff

This is a nice place to vacation but my only complaint would be that they need to upgrade their TV's to smart TV's and they need far better WIFI. I was told 15 mbps was standard and that's just not good enough for me! I'm there to vacation and enjoy the peacefulness but at night I'd like to be able to stay on top of my emails etc and maybe watch a movie.

My husband and I I love coming back to Westgate every year and will continue too!

The Balcony door blinds wouldn't stay closed. Gaps in the blinds.

Arrived early . Staff unable to accommodate early check in . Then they were unable to have room ready by the 4:00 pm time . I wasn’t the only one. Leak in bathroom . The staff entered several times and up to 10:15pm at night . Did not get to enjoy any privacy. The water park is extra by $25.00 a person . This information was not disclosed in booking. Beware , after check in , they want to give you a sales pitch of becoming a property owner. And when I declined , the lady had an attitude.

Overall, I had a great stay. The apartment was very spacious, clean, and comfortable, which made my experience very enjoyable. The only downside was that I didn’t get a higher floor as I had hoped. The hotel was very busy, and the common areas were almost always crowded. Even so, everything was well maintained, and I really enjoyed my stay. I would definitely stay here again.
