Older property. Breakfast area was crowded and the coffee machine was not efficient. Hotel smelled old.

Good clean hotel. Breakfast was good - eggs w cheese, and sausage. I would stay here again.

Awful hotel.

The property was clean however the building is older. I use a walker and The Walker would not fit through the doorway of the bathroom. The room was cleaned every day except Sunday. While I understand Sunday may be a day where the room is not cleaned for religious reasons but you should inform your renters when they check in so they're not expecting it. We had to go to the front desk and ask for extra towels becauqse we weren't expecting them not to clean. We had no problem but we just would have liked to have known ahead of time. It was nice to have a breakfast option because they seem to be very few and far between in Kansas City. While the breakfast was not top notch, it was good and there were lots of options. Mainly scrambled eggs and sausage everyday with cereal and yogurt as well as fruit.

Exceptional

This is the strangest place I think I have stayed in quite awhile. There is a water drainage system in the elevator, so the whole time it sounded like a water fall was in the elevator shaft. The place smells like a strange mix of cleaning liquids, I think believe of all the pets. Our family is almost positive the place was formerly a retirement home as well, from the looks of the outside and inside.

Clean space, not badly priced, staff was friendly, breakfast wasn't bad. Only critique is the sheets and shower curtains was blood/food stained in small spots, which always makes me queasy but otherwise, wasn't a deal breaker.

I was very upset when I arrived in Overland Park and was told I did not have a room available after booking a couple weeks in advance. I was frustrated and contacted the manager, and well let's just say, It was not the hotels fault, I was at the wrong location!!! I went to the correct location and voila, I had my room and they granted my wish to be close to the elevator, The manager and his staff were very helpful and showed that there is truly award winning customer service to be had in the hospitality industry. Kudos to this property. The room was clean and smelled great. We enjoyed the television with so many channels there was way to much to watch and not enough time! The air conditioning was great and easy to adjust to our liking. The location is easy on and off the freeway, and close to everything we wanted to do while visiting Kansas City. Once again, thank you Sonesta and we will book again, hopefully the same room next time!

The Sonesta was very clean in our room and in all the public areas including the pool. We would definitely consider returning to this hotel next time we are in Kansas City Kansas.

Very beautiful hotel for a value stay.

Very clean and great hotel. Breakfast had lots of options. Nice and quiet.

The size of the room and the fact it was fully stocked with all kitchen items. Cleanliness of the room in general. It was very obvious they came through and cleaned around items but not under them or in the places most people wouldn’t look. A lot of the kitchen items were dirty. It also had an older feel to it based on the overall color scheme and look. Looks as if they just kept painting over the old stuff to cover any issues up. Finally, there is a door between the rooms connected them together that I could not lock as it wasn’t allowed so it’s weird to think someone could just come in if they wanted to. Also, the cost of a soda from the hotel for a can was 3 bucks that’s just nuts when they don’t offer a vending machine so it’s a rip off no doubt.

Great place to stay, would recommend to anyone.

We checked several hotels within a couple miles of where I needed to be and the other hotels were very much more. Our room was great and had everything we needed. We would definitely stay here again !

Room 117 right off of the lobby was very nice until I went to bed. The mechanism for the automatic door is extremely loud and the bed is against the wall closest to it. Every time the door opened, that mechanism was loud enough to wake me up and then keep me awake as there seemed to be a lot of for traffic in and out from 0230 onward. I eventually moved to the couch and slept there. Otherwise the room and hotel were fine.
