Centrella Hotel, A Kirkwood Collection Hotel

I was a little scared after reading some of the other reviews, but the towels were white and the bedding smelled clean. I missed out on the champagne check in and the wine, that would have been nice. The location is great. My only complaint was the check in wasn't really friendly and we had to wait a few minutes for someone to show up at the front desk.

She stayed in the one bedroom cottage with the fire place and enjoyed it very much. The location is absolutely perfect ! Right near all the restaurants and also 10 mins walk to the beach.

Privacy however is limited. If you’re on the first floor, you can hear everybody walking around and talking in the hotel.

Some things to note- parking is limited in front of the building but you can street park nearly anywhere. The building is rather old so to us the walls seemed thin and there was a musty lingering smell coming from the bathroom the entire stay. With all of that to stay this was a much better experience then a traditional hotel.

Staff was very knowledgeable about the area. Room was a bit small and no AC. Had to use the floor fan.

Not like how it appears in photos. The property was not kept well, it’s not clean, there were spider webs in the room, the towels and bed sheets were stained and the floor was not cleaned properly. I do not recommend staying here, especially because the price is too high for what is actually offered.

I was really let down by our room though. It was definitely the smallest room we've ever had at the hotel. Parking was also a nightmare since the hotel only actually has 5 spaces. We were forced to park in the street several blocks away. What was most disappointing however was the service at the counter. Usually we are greeted with friendly staff in the morning. They usually offer us a parfait along with the breads and pastries they have out. During this trip however, we had the opposite experience. On the first day, the woman was in the kitchen slowly washing dishes and seemed annoyed when I asked her for the parfait. She brought us about two tablespoons of parfait in a cup and rudely placed it on our table. The next day wasn't any better. This time, the clerk was on her cell phone the entire time. Again, I had to go and ask her for the parfait. She rolled her eyes, didn't say anything, then rudely threw two mediocre parfaits on our table. Upon check out, the same rude employee just barked for me to "leave the key on the counter." We've stayed at this hotel many times and have always been happy. Maybe we just caught them on a bad day (or two).

Great location. Room was clean. Free glass of wine in the evening was a surprise and very nice.

Beautiful, old Victorian Inn. Given the age of the inn, I feel some upgrading would make the stay more comfortable and not lose its charm in the process. Gentleman that checked us in was friendly and thorough. The morning clerk was not as charming or friendly. But we did see deer roaming the streets in front of the inn! That was amazing!

Excellent

Hotel location was excellent (close to downtown Pacific Grove, shopping, restaurants, the beach). Breakfast was less than expected. Provided bagles but only with cream cheese no butter. "Parfait" was also only offered with cream cheese, would have preferred yogurt. We wound up getting coffee, bagels/muffins/pastries at a local coffee shop each morning.

It's really like a B&B with a really bare continental breakfast. The room are very small, bed was too soft. Location was just fine. For just one night, it was OK but probably would not stay for more than that.

Street parking is a good probability there is only 4 parking spots.

i think breakfast disappointed me as it wasn't exactly breakfast it was baked 2-3 items and coffee.

Staff was really friendly and the yogurt and granola for breakfast was really delicious. We got a cottage which is really the way to go for a cozy private weekend. The location is the best you can find in Monterey if you want to get away from the tourist area and all the shops are pretty close.

Great location, cool old building. “Jacuzzi tub” didn’t work, complimentary breakfast was pretty sad, bed was kind of creaky and not very comfortable. Not a bad experience, but should be much nicer for the cost.

Old property with small rooms; no A/C or installed screens on the windows; no punctual management for happy hour, complimentary breakfast. Parking on the streets if you don’t get into the 5 sacred off street parking. So far a non-memorable stay!

We had a room in the main house this time, but I have stayed in the cottages prior. I prefer the cottages, but the room was nice, as well. The yogurt parfait in the morning was excellent. Great stay and walking distance to beach & parks.
