Centrella Hotel, A Kirkwood Collection Hotel

Had a great stay at the historic Centrella Hotel. It is in an excellent location in Downtown PG. Easy uphill 1-block walk to Lighthouse Ave or a couple blocks to the ocean. Prepare for on-street parking as there are only about a half-dozen parking spaces in front of the hotel and they are not very long. But what's nice (and necessary) are those parking spaces are wider than what you'd normally find at a local parking lot for retail or groceries.

Charming & unforgettable

The gentleman that checked us in in the evening was amazing and very helpful! Our stay was great until we went to breakfast and to check out. The young woman at the desk didn’t greet us or offer assistance. I asked her about breakfast because it seemed to not be ready yet. She informed us we were two minutes early and the. Just stared. Didn’t offer us to sit and wait or anything g else. We asked to sit and then waited 20 mins while we watched one women trying to prepare the yogurt parfaits alone. At 807, two more workers arrived in the kitchen and chatted while we continued to wait. 20 minutes after start of breakfast, still no parfait. We decided to check out and leave. The young lady at the desk chucked and said you only had coffee?! Ummm what else was there? There were also no water glasses. Her lack of customer service and helpfulness really ruined the experience. When we checked out, she just took the keys and turned around and went about her business. She shouldn’t offer a receipt or thank you for staying with us. Please come again nothing it seemed like we were interrupting her phone time.

Old Victorian house with creaky floors and real room keys in a neighborhood setting. Charming in its older style. Nice outdoor patio and free evening glass of wine. Friendly and hospitable staff and a good breakfast. Parking is mostly on the street, but never had an issue getting a spot. Great location 3 blocks from Lover's Point and restaurants within walking distance. Room was small with no ac, but a box fan was provided which did cool the room.

Had a wonderful stay! Everything was clean, the staff was so kind & helpful and the continental breakfast each morning was so lovely out on the patio :)

The staff was apparently not happy to be there and their breakfast was dismal and the ran out of most things 10 minutes into starting. The staff was put out when asked what they did have to offer. The offering explained on the website is false advertising. The carpet in the room was dirty and stained everywhere, the toilet seats was completely warm through the paint, the sheets were stained, the towels were a weird light grey and almost felt damp. Hands down this is the WORST hotel stay I have ever had and I spent 250+ nights in hotels last year!!

It was rough! Coming from England, I would put this as a 2* above a pub style hotel. The 'breakfast' was grocery store bagels (no cream cheese) and small pastries. Managed the last cup of coffee at breakfast. No alternatives for milk or yogurt etc. TBH I've had better breakfasts at a BW. The check-in staff tried to be helpful. However the 2nd day the woman really insulted my partner and didn't even catch that she did- despite my partner walking away. The woman assumed she was 20+ yrs older than she is because she is on crutches so a but of disability training may be needed ie no only older people use crutches or mobility aids. There was construction outside the hotel from 7am which made choosing it for a quieter option from Cannary Row a bit of a joke. Parking was also really tricky during the day as they only have 5 or so spots for over 20 rooms. I would have loved to leave a good review but the amenities and staff weren't up to a 4* experience or the price.

We had a great stay. I was a little surprised that not every room was updated like the pictures reflected. The main hotel is still very traditional. The staff was excellent

Like staying at your Victorian grandmas house -cozy and familiar. Fabulous location, good price, they definitely could work a little on updating carpets, pullout sleeping sofas ( it was a futon) and such but overall good for the price!

Check in was great, but then got to the room and the sheets were dirty. We needed a fresh set of sheets - which we had to change ourselves. We found hair on the bathroom floor - not ours - whoever "cleaned" the room, did a poor job. Very surprising and disappointing given the fact that this is a kirkwood property. Staff was very nice, but the condition of the property is disappointing.

There is so cereal at all. No good varieties of fruits of fruits just premade parfait. Upstairs people were making too much noise and the noise starts as early as 5 pm from outside. The first day the front desk young lady was too arrogant and rude. She did not even want us to be there, looks like this girl could not tolerate other cultures in-spite of the customer being polite. She did not wanted to serve the parfait when asked. She had a frown face that we saw her on Wednesday night when we checked in and the next day when we went to eat the breakfast. But Friday there was a different girl. Serving every one happily and was very well mannered. She was very sweet to me and my husband. She has a great attitude and morale. Friday morning around 10.30 am the frown face lady was back while we were checking out.

Room was clean however the linens were so old, they were grey. Check-in staff was difficult and unfriendly. On street parking was tricky, property should have noted this.

The hotel is in a great location. That’s the high point…photos are misleading, it is a bit run down and missed the mark. The bed and breakfast ran out of breakfast and the service was not great.

Comfortable bed. Basic amenities. Quiet neighborhood, but thin walls. Limited onsite parking. Friendly and helpful staff. Good location, as far as restaurants, entertainment and walk to the beach.

Our friends spent more money and stayed in a cottage and said it was adequate. They enjoyed the spaciousness and the best part is the garden in the back. Wouldn't go again.

I absolutely loved this hotel. My only wish is that we could have stayed longer.

Breakfast was simple but good, parking was limited but you can find parking on Main Street room was clean and comfortable we did have to call for fresh towels and they were delivered promptly

Didn't stay the night checked in and checked out. Not clean, bedding not fresh. Definitely previously been slept in. Room was very dated and not clean. Wish I'd taken photos.
