We had an amazing stay. Star was very accommodating. The room was cozy.

Andrea was amazing. The property was absolutely beautiful. The only thing we’d like to get feedback on is to maybe offer a way to close the curtains a bit. If you don’t want the sun first thing in the morning I know that’s a preference thing, but it was one of things we noticed. Other than that. Everything was amazing. Thank you for making my fiancé. First time to Monterey. The best.

The staff was absolutely amazing! Andrea went above and beyond and could not be more friendly!

We loved the stay. The only comment I have is that the beds were not comfortable. Everything else earns 5 stars

The one staff member who we saw in person was terrific. We never encountered any of the check-in personnel because we had to do so remotely when we arrived late. That was a *very* frustrating experience, which is our only reason for rating the hotel less than excellent. They need to improve that experience for their guests. I doubt guests particularly mind checking in remotely, but we hated our check-in. For the following reasons: we weren't informed that we would need to call a phone number to get into our room, the connection was sketchy with lots of background information, and the person who took the reservation number and credit card number for incidentals didn't seem to speak/understand English well. We arrived at 9:00PM after traffic delays; I have no idea how terrible it might be for other travelers who arrive even later and exhausted from the process. Please fix check-in procedures!!!

They claim the suite has an ocean view, but you might need binoculars… and maybe a step stool. It smells exactly like your grandma’s house had a wrestling match with a bottle of Fabuloso. The beds are firm and squeaky enough to wake the dead (fitting for the haunted theme), The check-in process — made to stand outside on the phone with someone who’s clearly still learning English against a noisy background — is a bit rough at best. The property sits right at the corner of a busy 4-lane road with a stoplight shining directly outside the my suite’s window at eye level, so you hear every car stopping, accelerating, plus plenty of sirens and traffic noise all night. And just when I thought I could relax in the bath… the tub is comically small…maximum two-year-old size. I’m 6’ and it was basically a joke! 😂 Coffee and food service doesn’t start until 8 AM, which made an early departure feel less accommodating. Overall it’s a solid spot with personality, but these things kept it from feeling like a true five-star experience. Three stars feels about right.

We arrived late to our check-in due to unforeseen circumstances and when we arrived we were offered a complimentary late check in without us having to ask. We left extremely grateful for the hospitality and were impressed with how clean and comfortable each room was. We are very glad we booked this hotel and plan to stay again in the future. It’s beautiful here.

Our ground floor room was a little loud but it’s a cute place 2 blocks to shops and restaurants. Breakfast was lovely and fun to see other guests. Very comfortable bed with fragrance free bed sheets 👍👍👍. Hosts here sweet and helpful. They need to open the front and back door at least once a day for a little while to “burp” the house as the air was a little stagnant inside.

This B&B was very charming and walking distance to everything in Pacific Grove. The staff were super polite and friendly. Very nice wine and cheese in the afternoon and a perfect continental breakfast with top-notch breads and yogurt and more we would definitely return.

I would absolutely recommend The Charles Inn, the stay was great and I really enjoyed the location.

The room and entire Inn was very clean. I am very selective about a places cleanliness and The Charles was excellent, bathrooms were spotless. Public spaces were just beautifully designed and furnished providing the guests with a wonderful history of the property and the wonderful town of Pacific Grove. We had off street parking that was enclosed which made packing in and out of the property very easy. Breakfasts were excellent with a good variety of fruit, yogurt, eggs. Cookies and wine were offered in the evening and cocktail hour respectively. Just made for a wonderful stay.

Let's start with the positives: 1) Staff - the staff was very nice, friendly, warm, and appeared to be working hard. 2) Clean! The place was nice and clean. 3) Bed - Very comfortable. 4) The afternoon wine was nice 1) LOUD! From paper-thin walls. Creaky floors to loud street noise. 2) The place is old- yes, historic- but it's really old. The shower was from the 1970s. 3) Noise -I can't emphasize the noise enough - You hear every guest as they walk by, their talking and their walking... and if there's a floor above you, you'll hear every step they make! 2) Breakfast - not the best, and coffee, really awful.

Everything! Wow what a place. We loved everything.
