We had the absolute best stay at the Koa Kea. We loved how the resort is on the smaller side, and you can easily walk out of your room and to the pool, beach, or to some nearby businesses (little fish, puka dog, surf shop..). The staff was super friendly and accommodating as well. I also loved being greeted with real leis, chocolate for our honeymoon, and wine in the room when we arrived! The pool bar had some yummy food, and good drinks. The sunrise yoga was fantastic as well. We stayed here for our honeymoon and actually preferred it to the first half of our trip, when we stayed at Hotel 1 Hanalei. Again, we loved how small and intimate Koa Kea felt, and it had a calm, relaxing vibe with mostly adults staying at the property. We already can't wait to come back again for an anniversary in the future.

Staff and amenities were very good. Quiet and relaxed atmosphere with only a few children. Room rates weee reasonable but parking and resort fees on the high side. Overall, a very nice experience and would return.

Not crowded…

The place was also not that clean and in a state of disrepair. The hot tub frequently had a dirty film on the surface of the water or large clumps of hair. The steps down the the beach were broken, and instead of promptly fixing them, the hotel left rusty nails exposed and just placed a sign in front saying access to the beach was closed. For the exorbitant price compared to other hotels in the area, it's just not worth it. The room was spacious and I particularly liked the shower, but there was little else of note. Needless to say, I will never be staying here again, and I recommend you too find another place to stay

We really loved our stay here. Smaller resort but we liked how it was a bit smaller. Beautiful view of the ocean, AMAZING food. Loved the bar, restaurant and the spa. Would highly recommend.

The location is great and the staff was very helpful.

This property was almost a dream. I stayed 6 days here. Everything from the pool, to the grounds and the rooms were immaculately kept clean and manicured. The staff is super attentive and helpful. I felt like royalty. The spa is amazing. Patti was my masseuse during my 90 minute Swedish massage. She is a gem and took extra special care of me since I had sunburn when I came in. I also did the dinner pa’ina when Red Salt hosted it. It was the best meal I had on the entire island. All of the ingredients in every dish were locally sourced. The chef came out and explained every dish. He mentioned a lot of the ingredients in the dishes were grown in his very own garden. I not only loved the food but also the company. I got a chance to meet and talk with other hotel guests at the dinner. It was very intimate and by the end of the dinner, I felt we had all became friends. I can’t rave more about a hotel on Kauai. Stay at Ko’a Kea. It’s more expensive than other hotels but it’s worth every penny.

The staff were very cheerful and helpful. They had great recommendations for activities and food. The room was clean and relaxing. The view of the ocean was great and we could watch surfers from our room.

It’s a beautiful resort. We did morning yoga and pilates on the lawn looking out over the ocean. It’s a great location! Nothing really

We absolutely loved staying here for our babymoon. It was very quiet and peaceful for us, mostly adults, exactly what we were seeking for our last getaway before we welcome our baby to this world. If you don’t mind walking, which we don’t, it’s about a 15 minute walk to Poipu shopping center and 30 minutes to another shopping center where there were more restaurants and what not. Would need rental car or uber to get to old Kōloa. Good to know for other travelers is there is no direct beach access! Must go to adjacent public beach. This was fine for us. The only complaint we have would be the AC in our room wasn’t great, woke up most nights very hot. But, would still stay again. We look forward to coming back someday.

When we got to the hotel, our check-in was delayed almost until 4 PM even though they promised that their room will be ready earlier. Took me quite a bit of complaining to get to our room by 3:30 PM. The room that we had was very nice, but it had a very noisy AC unit, which was outdated and probably is used throughout the property.

Staff goes above and beyond to enhance experience and accommodate us! Beautiful view from the oceanfront room balcony. Great food and drinks!

Great service and location. Perfect for couples.

Really like our Deluxe Oceanfront room, we can step out from the Floor-to-ceiling window directly to the beach! It is just 10m from the ocean. Absolutely would consider come back.
