AC Hotel Portland Downtown/Waterfront, ME

Overpriced hotel, not many amenities. Staff was friendly however we had some items that were taken/ thrown out of room by the room service crew. The manager corrected the issue and made it right which I truly appreciate. Room was clean but the rooms are a bit noisy. This hotel is located in a good area making it easy to walk to restaurants nearby.

The room was spacious, but there was a lot of noise from nearby construction work, which meant I got very little sleep as the work started early in the morning. I also didn’t like the fact that a 4 star hotel does not provide daily housekeeping. Considering the price we paid, I believe this should be the minimum expected. The room could also use better lighting, and the bed was only average in terms of comfort. Apart from that, everything was fine, and the breakfast was good.

This was a very nice hotel with the worst staff experience. From beginning to end I feel like we did all the work to make our trip enjoyable. Because someone called out we had no actual cooked breakfast day 2 although we paid for the full breakfast. Do t even get me started about the shuttle service. We waited for almost 2 hours outside the airport and when we called all they said was they will be there soon. No one ever called us to tell us the shuttle came and went because it was full? Really bad experience! A very nice driver from the aloft hotel drove us . He said he felt bad because he did 2 trips while we were waiting. And the cleaning service had an extreme language barrier. It was hard to communicate what we needed for the room out in the hallway since they totally skipped our room for day 2 cleaning. The waitress was nice and everyone we encountered outside away from the hotel was!

The city view room does not exist nor does a water view room skip those more expensive room options. The paid breakfast is just your generic breakfast you would see at many other hotels for free. (Cereal, yogurts.)

I need to commend the bartender. He made the best , most complex, gin and tonic I have ever tasted.

Location We found dried blood in the headboard and the one pillow case. Also hair on floor

Breakfast and staff were great. Restaurants nearby were great. Free parking would have been an excellent perk.

Location and amenities Parking was not clearly explained when I was given a pass. I was told where to park, not that there would be special directions that needed to be followed on the parking pass. I was only told which garage and to use the pass. We were eventually able to find parking on floor 5 but did not know until checkout that we were supposed to park on floor 6 and scan the badge again.
