The Docent's Collection at 121 Middle Street

The property is in a great location and at first seemed fine but after being there for a few days I noticed a few things - the sink in both the bathroom and the kitchen did not drain well (the bathroom sink actually took hours to drain), the faucet in the kitchen leaked and there living room was not cleaned thoroughly when we checked in. The bed was also very uncomfortable. I think this is a good place if you want to stay a day or so but not great for extended stay. They also do not provide house keeping on a daily basis. Overall disappointing exprience.

Location is far from attractions. Parking is off site. New but not a great value. Recommend you stay closer to town in Camden where you can walk to shops.

Spacious + gorgeous loft in the heart of Portland!

Great spacious place, modern, clean

I booked a bundle through Expedia. The booking was for a queen studio however I received a 2 bedroom efficiency. It was lovely. Quiet and so comfortable. Had a little trouble with the card keys so used the key on the app which was smooth. Parking is very efficient.

The location was in the heart of the Old Port. Easy walk to excellent restaurants and shops. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Our studio apartment was well designed and extremely comfortable. For the location and the quality, the price was a bargain.

The staff, when they were there was helpful but when I left at 0700 no one there. There is poor signage so you need to not depend on the sign but the address to find it. Some of the electrical plugs in my large suite did not work including the bathroom. the neighborhood was great, including a lobster roll from Luke's on the Portland pier.

Be prepared to pay $60 for overnight parking. Other than that, the rooms and staff were excellent. Location A+.

Loved it

Good hotel but overpriced considering the amenities. No in house laundry and the TVs do not have built in capabilities for streaming apps. Residence Inn by the waterfront is probably cheaper with more amenities, while having built in kitchens like this hotel.

The apartment was great but parking is expensive

Took a little while to settle in,and we found it very comfortable. We would definitely return.

Everything was great! Awesome location

My wife and I were not only very impressed with the cleanliness of the hotel and room and the gracious staff, but also the spaciousness of the room. For two people we could have lived here a month instead of the three days we were there; the room would have been perfect for a small family trip or couples getaway. The hotel is super close to the Old Port downtown and everything was just a quick walk. The ease of check in was also a pleasure. What a great value as well. I would highly recommend anyone visiting Portland to stay here.

Such a great, different, non-hotel feeling option to stumble upon when I was in Portland, Maine. GREAT location. Feels much more boutique hotel like, quaint, way more appeal than a big "chain" hotel. I would want to book for more than a week to be able to use kitchen and flexibility of apartment-like feel.

What a thoughtfully appointed loft ! The large kitchen was well stocked with everything necessary to cook-up all the seafood you bought at the market. The bedrooms and baths were clean and of ample size. Loved the location, one block from the main retail boulevard and restaurants yet far enough that it was very quiet. Off street hotel parking is behind the adjacent building and abuts the police station garage. The staff were readily available via text when things came up. Would love to go back.

Unique building with all the essentials

We had an excellent stay. The hotel was beautifully appointed with premium furniture, high-end appliances, and thoughtful finishes throughout that made it feel more like a luxury residence than a typical hotel. The location was incredibly convenient, with easy access to some of the area’s best restaurants, shops, and marinas.
