The Royal Sonesta Portland Downtown

Instead of getting it at the front desk, they claim that they shipped my kindle to another person. From there, the excuses only grew: first, this other person they said would ship it back to them; then the story became that they it wasn't shipped to them or there was a problem with the tracking number. Then they claimed that it was returned to the sender and will return to the hotel in good time. Folks, it has been nearly a month and there is no sign of my kindle. 90% of the communication has been initiated by me, and all they do is give me empty platitudes about "thanking me for my patience." My patience is not unlimited, although it seems as if their ineptitude is.

Stayed for a couple of days right in the middle of Portland. Got to enjoy a glass of wine while someone played the piano in the lobby..

What once was a nice hotel has been neglected and is seriously worn.

The beds are comfortable, the staff were extremely helpful and the location is excellent. The toilet was the noisiest thing I’ve experienced in a long time and the water pressure in the shower was poor.

Breakfast was okay, not that great. They should have more bread. Parking got nullified as soon as we checked out. It should have been valid for 24 hours.

Cold water handle in bathroom was broken when we arrived. We notified the front desk. They said they would notify the engineering department but no one showed up for the four days we were there. Mild in the shower and on the ceiling of the shower. Mold in the living room area ceiling. The hotels valet was magnificent!

Staff was friendly but very strict. Doors in rooms need to be repaired. First room had serious issues with bedroom sliding doors. We were changed to another room with same issues although not that bad. Fridge and coffee maker are not standard amenities. You need to request them.

It’s quirky, clean, and great staff. Nothing

Room was very large, staff were extremely accommodating and polite. Hotel is clean and very well situated with good transport links. The lounge area in the foyer is really nice and I liked that the $15 complimentary spend I had could be used at the 'mini mart' at reception. You do have to request a fridge for your room which I found a little irritating. Only two elevators which means you can often be waiting for one to arrive.

The hotel is gorgeous and a fantastic stay! The location was ideal. This is my second experience at a Royal Sonesta and they charge for everything! Know this in advance. The credit card hold placed at check in for incidentals is above industry standard. You will pay for parking, you will overpay for a buffet breakfast, you will pay for everything. There are no refrigerators or coffee makers in the room so you cannot even bring food in and keep it for your stay and you are at the mercy of the restaurant schedule. The restaurant/bar schedule was super inconvenient. Limited and not open for afternoon or after hours cocktails. Difficult to relax when you constantly have to leave the hotel.

Great location, it beats everything. Also great price. Really close to downtown and all the things. Very silent and quite. Large rooms. Stays here for the romantic trip with my wife and it was a good choice for such kind of trips. Valet parking 55 per night. This is mostly forced as there are cheaper places to park you car but with more security risk. Parking on the fresh air is a joke I would say. Also inconsistency in presentation. Weird thing with credits, breakfast it not that good.

We stay here every time we visit Portland. While all the rooms are great, the executive suite is relatively cheap and offers a funky, but comfortable vibe with plenty of space to enjoy.
