Frequently asked questions
Should I stay near the airport or closer to downtown Portland for work?
It depends on your schedule and meeting locations. Staying near Portland International Airport works well if you have early flights or meetings in the eastern metro area, while downtown puts you closer to offices in the city center and offers easier access to public transit. Many travelers also consider neighborhoods like the Pearl District or Lloyd District for a balance between airport access and walkability to business districts.
How do I book hotels in Portland for multiple people on my team?
If you need eight rooms or fewer, you can book directly through Engine's platform and manage everything yourself. For nine or more rooms, Engine Groups handles the coordination, working with you to find properties that can accommodate your team and manage the details. Both options include consolidated invoicing and multiple payment methods.
What should I look for in a Portland hotel for a business trip?
Focus on location relative to your meetings, reliable internet, and workspace options in the room. Consider proximity to the MAX light rail if you'll be moving around the city, and check whether the property offers breakfast or has food nearby if you'll have early starts. Parking availability matters if you're renting a car, especially in denser neighborhoods.
What are my options for a month-long work assignment in Portland?
Extended-stay and apartment-style hotels work well for longer trips, offering full kitchens, separate living areas, and often weekly housekeeping rather than daily service. These properties give you more space to settle in and can be more comfortable than a standard hotel room for assignments lasting several weeks. Engine lists both traditional hotels and extended-stay options across Portland, so you can compare based on your needs and budget.
What types of accommodations can I book in Portland through Engine?
Engine lists hotels throughout Portland, from standard rooms for short trips to extended-stay and apartment-style properties for longer assignments. Extended-stay options typically include kitchens and more living space, while apartment-style properties offer a residential feel with separate bedrooms and work areas. You'll find options across the city, whether you need to be near the airport, downtown, or in neighborhoods closer to specific work sites.
