Courtyard by Marriott Portland North

Food in bistro was good for what it is - doesn't feel like a "restaurant" Reception staff who checked us in was in no way friendly - other staff were a huge contrast to him fortunately. I felt badly for food service folks covering in an obviously low staffing situation. Room was top quality and all we expected.

Parking garage is absolutely the worst unless you drive a small compact vehicle. Parking across the street is no better when parking spots that are designated for the Courtyard Hotel are coned off. The street to get to the hotel is a nightmare, its so jammed packed with cars parked on both sides and being a small street because its also around apartment complexes, one car has to wait to allow others through. Arrived to check-in and the person at front desk was annoyed by caller on phone, that a welcoming manner was lacking.

Superb

There was almost no food at the Starbucks. The staff did their best to help. There is a homeless encampment in the parking garage. They need better lighting and entrance signage down there.

Ice machine down. Not enough towels. Staff were great. Never got breakfast but still charged for 2 people. Over not bad. The view was beautiful and pool was nice.

Exceptional

The location and view was great. The cleanliness was not. We had mystery stains all over our carpet that were still wet so that was off putting not know what it was. We also had an ant problem and it was more than 6 ants that just kept popping up by the tv and by the sink in bathroom.

Nothing The $250 deposit that wasn't explained to me. The door in the restroom didn't lock and the bedsheets and pillows were stained The breakfast was confusing nor the staff explained it to us and we had to get vouchers in which they ran out of. The staff was not friendly at all.

I booked a river view room but was first put in a courtyard view. After complaining, they said they were booked, then moved me again the next day, but each change came with extra fees. The final room had a tree blocking the view. For the price and the hassle, it didn’t feel worth it. Disappointing experience.

We stayed just one night traveling through. Modern, clean and comfortable. They have a bar downstairs and you can buy breakfast items in the morning. Beautiful courtyard with fire pits. We did not go down, but we could see them from our little balcony, as well as the river.

Exceptional

The room had cobwebs in it. The lift chair for the hot tub didn’t work. There were no amenities at all everything you got you had to pay for even parking. It was completely unsatisfied with someone saying how great the Marriott was supposed to be. It wasn’t.

Staff: The staff was unfailingly polite, pleasant, and helpful. I can’t say enough nice things about their hard work and positive attitude. It was clear the hotel is operating on a skeleton staff, and the staff went out of their way to accommodate guests. The room was basically clean. Didn’t spot mold. Difficult access. Guests with large SUVs may find parking challenging. Parking costs$. WiFi: Guests must create an account with a login ID and password on the Marriott site to access WiFii. There was no direct port plug-in. Room cleaning is not daily. The room was basically clean. Didn’t spot mold. The toilet is extremely low to the ground; a couple of outlets had burn marks on the outside. The mattresses were soft. The bedding was clean and warm enough. Heater: I turned on the heater and the entire room began to smell like urine. BISTRO/Coffee Bar: Limited hours. Understaffed. The perfumed body wash is overwhelming. If the guest is asthmatic/allergic or sensitive to perfumes, they may have trouble. The same is true for the cleaning agent used. Guest Laundry Room: Opened the door, and the humidity and smell of mold were overwhelming. View: charge for water view. Technically, the water view (charge for water view) could be seen if standing in the corner of the room and looking sideways through the window. Do not recommend.
