There was also a delay in getting our car from valet.

Great place to stay only drawback was on top floor A/C would kick on and off with a big thud and sometimes wake up during these moments

To start, staff was very friendly. But when we got to the room it was dirty. Now I’m not talking a little bit of dust, the sheets on the bed were some shade of dirty, the floors haven’t been vacuumed. The carpets weren’t properly attached to the floor, they had detached and bubbling around the edges. There was a particular smell in the room, we weren’t there long enough to locate it but it did go away after shutting off the ac(which was useless). The fridge smelt of death, which is too bad because the food in Portland is amazing!!! We had them clean the room once, wow, just wow. The towels weren’t properly cleaned, but the clean towels they brought were every hydrophobic, they only pushed the water off of you. So even though you used the towel thoroughly, you never dried off. They don’t change any sheets, they proudly displayed the stains on the pillow cases as if they were having a contest to see how dirty they could leave a room before getting fired. Honestly, I was impressed. Overall the hotel was beautiful, the wood work was beautiful for a historical building. Too bad, I don’t think I’ll ever return there, ever.

Excellent

Beautiful “old school club” Interiors with a lot of wood coffered ceilings and confortabile amenities. Staff was exceptionally helpful kind and always ready to help. Valet parking is a great option as you can simply unload the car and they will take care of it, which is very useful when travelling with a large group and small children. Nothing.

Clean room and helpful staff. Keep in mind that’s it’s an old hotel and it shows a little.

Loved the location and Jake’s is a terrific restautant

The Sentinel provided our first accommodations upon arriving to Oregon and we only wish we could have stayed longer. Stunning rooms and common areas, excellent staff and amenities, and an ideal location for exploring Portland. Look forward to returning!

The terrace room was amazing. Location is perfectly central for Portland. Staff very friendly and helpful. Unusually for a hotel, nothing was annoying or seemingly illogically set up. Minor complaint, the chairs could use some new upholstering.

The biggest issue was the noise. Ongoing street construction made every passing car sound like a gunshot, making it nearly impossible to get a good night's sleep. Hotel did offer ear plugs and noise canceling machine… Room service is only available in the morning, and there aren't any convenience stores nearby. However, there are plenty of restaurants within walking distance, including a good restaurant on the property. Overall, this hotel did not live up to its rating, and I wouldn't stay here again. DO NOT USE THE SELF PARKING LOT NEXT TO HOTEL ON CORNER OF 11th/ALDER! Several cars were broken into when we stayed there on several nights. USE HOTEL VALLET!

Great location for our downtown adventure with close proximity to many attractions and public transport. The hotel was cute and comfortable. Our room was a good size too. There was some nearby construction that was quite loud early morning, but the helpful staff let us know when we checked in and offered ear plugs and noise machine. Would definitely recommend if you want to be centrally located.

We've stayed at Sentential several times over the years and never tire of the stately architecture and level of original construction quality. Service is always good to excellent, though few will appreciate the additional $65 per day cost associated with valet parking (the nearest public parking lot is subject to frequent break-ins) or the $29 per day charge for 'Guest Amenity Fee'. (FYI: On our last visit, the cost of valet parking for three days on the street outside the hotel totaled $295.95).

Lovely hotel in central Portland. Had a great vibe and the room was lovely
