Very comfy! Love the vibe and walking distance to amazing restaurants and clubs.

This hotel is so cute! The front desk staff were amazing with their recommendations.

I was charged much more than I was quoted by Hotels.com. Other than that a very nice time.

Front desk was friendly and helpful. The inside was very clean, cool vibes. My car window got smashed. The area doesn't seem safe. Downtown Portland apparently has a history of smashed car windows, the downer of the trip.

Convenient. Housekeeping for the bunk rooms and shared bathrooms were less attentive than for private rooms.

Good place, it was clean and great. They took an extra 25 dollars which they said will be paid back so I put my card out, but it’s still taken. Not sure what that was but be careful. They take more than what you paid via booking.com

Got there at 9-10 pm at night, and just went to my room which already had the lights off, and hopped in bed. I had a top bunk, but I sorta wish an option was given to have a bottom bunk, seeing as there were several that were open in my room. There's no privacy curtain for top bunks. The shared bathroom was clean. Only some minor noise with other people talking briefly, and slight snoring, but it's to be expected in a room with several people in it. I was just there for 1 night, and needed a place to lay my head, left early in the morning and stored my bag without issue. Very conveniently located for downtown events.

This property was filthy. The bedding had stains on it, the halls and floors were filthy. There was no bathroom in our room and we were expected to use a common bathroom with other guests in the hallway.

The property definitely was unique. But the rooms were tiny and lacked hanging spaces and drawers to place clothes. And there wasn’t a microwave or a mini-frig which would have been handy for warming up leftovers.

Nicest hostel I’ve ever been in

As a travel content creator over the last two years, I have benefited from the hostel system on an international level. My experience has always been that US hostels quite often lack that level of comfortable, class amenities that elevate them into consideration against a hotel room. KEX is not one of those; KEX is without a doubt one of my top three hostels that I have stayed in here in the United States. In the city of Portland, when it comes to locations, KEX, located at 1200 MLK Blvd, is hard to beat. Easy access to streetcar, light rail, and bus lines; mass transit in Portland is truly some of the best connectivity in a top 25 city. Everyone I encountered was super friendly, incredibly helpful, without being overly bearing. Nothing is perfect. I hate to give anything a five; I just don't believe in the concept of perfection. However, KEX Hostel was damn close. 4.93 on my rating scale.

Great place, love the bar and lobby, and the sunset room on the roof.

Good bed, spacious bathroom. Staff was not the friendliest, but overall ok.

The price was about the same as a regular hotel, skip this place if you can.

Superb

Really great value in an urban hotel. Beds and linens were great. Incredible decor and great shared spaces. We had a shared bathroom… it was right outside our door and I never saw anyone but us using it. Barely an inconvenience. I’ll look forward to coming back!
