Silver Cloud Hotel - Portland

Average stay. Very mid. The location was good. The bed and pillows were just ok. Just a room, really. No facility extras. We wanted to catch up on shows during our vacation, and the TV was outdated/cheap that it wouldn’t stream Peacock!

I used to live in Portland and had driven by the Silver Cloud many times, this is my first time as a guest. I would 10 out of 10 recommend. Free parking in the heart of Portland? Check. Friendly, welcoming staff? Check. Huge, clean rooms and an upgrade? Check. Classy bar and restaurant onsite? Check. Value for the price? Double check. This place ticks all the boxes and I am picky. Comfy bed, quiet, tons of pillows -- maybe I just needed a hotel night, but the Silver Cloud did not disappoint. Nothing. It was delightful.

The location was amazing, staff was very friendly and helpful, and the room was spacious and clean. I was especially surprised by the spaciousness of the room. It was located in a great spot where there were plenty of walkable locations and many of the main attractions were just a short drive away. They also provided parking as a part of the price which was really amazing. The beds and pillows weren’t the most comfortable. But honestly other than that I don’t have any complaints.

The breakfast at the restaurant within the hotel was good but the menu was very limited. They upgraded our room to a King suite for free. It was very spacious. There was only one elevator so sometimes the wait was longer than I expected. The shower/toilet was a bit cramped. Being a bit picky here but the toilet paper could have been better quality.

Very clean, quiet, extremely comfortable beds. Having a good restaurant on premises a bonus. Staff very friendly. Definitely the best quality stay for the price. Parking somewhat tight

Have stayed with you several times. Thought I would get a better rate and room. The cost

Location was great (my husband and I have stayed here many times and love the Alphabet District). It was walkable to many restaurants and stores. It was easy to take public transportation downtown. Free parking is also a great amenity. The walls are thin and we could hear people in next room. Their TV volume was very loud past 10 pm (perhaps you could supply earplugs?). The small frig's freezer was not cold enough. The lights could use dimmers, especially above the bathroom sinks. On the other hand, it's nice to have the sinks separate from the toilet and tub.

I was upgraded to a king room. It was a good value for the price. A person in the room above me stomped on the floor walking around in the middle of the night. I’m not sure what one can do about that but that’s why I down graded the facility itself.

Also appreciate the Aveda shampoo, body wash and cream. Nothing really.

Great location, wonderful staff

We loved our room! Both the size and bed comfort. The on-site free parking was amazing as well. There is also a free laundry room in the hotel with multiple washers and dryers, which was quite convenient. Unfortunately, there was no gym in the hotel, and the street it's on is pretty busy and noisy, so opening windows isn't a great option most of the time. The shower head was also quite weird and not that useful.

The location is wonderful allowing people to explore and enjoy the local neighborhoods full of restaurants & coffee shops as well as small boutiques and shops featuring local designers. Parking was great and free on site and the area was quiet at night. The restaurant at the hotel has breakfast, lunch and dinner with a nice selection as well as a full bar. The staff were great and the rooms were kept very clean throughout. The only thing that we had an issue with was a problem with the in-room safe. We stayed for three days and used it with no problem for the first two days, then on the third day upon returning to our room in the afternoon, we couldn’t open the safe and kept getting an error message even though we were entering the correct code. The only person who could have taken care of opening the safe was not working and nobody had any idea how to open the safe. Our small computer as well as charging cables for our phones were in the safe and we were leaving early the next morning to the airport to return home so we were extremely worried. Eventually they were able to get a hold of that person who walked them through locating the device needed to access the safe, and walked them through the process to open it. The property needs to have someone on hand 24/7 that is trained to be able to handle this situation because it could happen anytime. We were so relieved and thankful that the staff was able to get this resolved for us. We’re confident they will implement something to mitigate this from occurring again.

The next day I went to the restaurant and had breakfast. The bill including tip came to $19.00. I paid with a debit card and proceeded to check out of the room. I was again reminded of the staff wanting to make amends for the state of the room. Again, I told them that was not necessary. Later that day I received a message from the manager on my cell phone letting me know they had picked up the tab on my breakfast and was refunding the $19.00 to me. I figured this would be the end of the ordeal, but no. I returned home and went into my banking app to catch up my checking balance. I noticed the original charge for $19.00 and another charge for $19.00 from the hotel. Instead of crediting back my original $19.00 they charged me again. I contacted the telephone number for the chain. They stated they couldn't help me and suggested I contact the local motel directly. The operator had the number that he read to me but couldn't connect me because they didn't have to ability to do that. I made contact again with the front desk and was transferred to the manager. Again the manager explained to me that he had indeed credited the original $19.00 back to me and explained how crediting a debit back can take several days. I completed the telephone conversation and waited a few days. I checked back and found that the 2nd change had indeed been removed from my bank account, but the original change remained. I figured "good enough".

Location Ok

We love the location, easy to get to and easy exit. We love the location and walking the blocks of 23rd and 21st, lots of amenitities.
