The hotel is a hip, quirky boutique establishment, with lots of unique aspects. Check out almost any games or athletic equipment from the front desk. Hotel does need some upkeep maintenance. My room was perfect, but others reported their A/C did not work. The courtyard was closed while we were there due to resurfacing the wood plank flooring, which was actively happening. I would recommend this place

Ask for a coffee maker and coffee otherwise it is not in the room

Easy safe parking

Great place to stay, room was clean, bed was comfortable and alot of fun activities going on the weekend we stayed! Places to eat are walking distance. Parking was pricey but for the location I guess that's why its expensive. But overall great experience

We will recommend The Hotel Zags to people we know traveling to Portland.

Carpet in rooms and halls is badly stained and looks dirty. Parking is tight and limited had to wait for so.e one to leave to be able to park. Staff was friendly especially Allison! Would probably not stay again for the price their are several nicer options.

They had so much activities for the kids & the staff were amazing, definitely recommend for a family

Great location. The room was pretty nice. The lobby has a cool vibe. They were cleaning the patio, so wasn’t able to use, but the overall amenities and experience were good.

The bathroom had a dirty (toothpaste residue) glass in it. The elevators obviously needed to be vacuumed but were not the entire time we were there. The “included” continental breakfast was the worst, cheapest effort we’ve ever seen. Tiny yogurts, generic cereals, mass purchased muffins and white breads. No gluten-free options- this is PORTLAND people! Pre-peeled eggs. A bowl of bananas and apples. One star for good coffee. Be aware that there is a $30 charge per day for “amenities”. When front desk attendant was asked about what that was for they replied that it was for covering costs for the continental breakfast (seriously?), the S’mores night (we did not partake) and the bicycle rental (ditto). This is a sneaky and unacceptable way for the hotel to make more money. We asked for it to be removed from our bill. We will not be returning to this hotel.

As a seperate problem, it was not clear that you had to request a room clean, and when I finally asked on my third day all they did was empty the trash and provide a couple new towels. Nothing was cleaned. They didn't even make the bed ??!!

The hotel was amazing - the staff and amenities were as well - however there is no gym on site and I was led to believe there was

The only thing I’m dinging this place for is the bathroom door it’s like a 100 pound slider. God forbid there was a fire. I would’ve been trapped in there. And the water pressure was horrible like it wasn’t even worth taking a shower cause you couldn’t even rinse the soap out of your hair. Continental breakfast was average with everybody else that offers that. The weight of the bathroom door and the water pressure are a no return stay from me. Staff was friendly.
-
Bathroom shower and toilet looked dirty due to “pealing” paint. Rooms smelled like mold however the lobby was nice.
-
Pillows were large and heavy, and breakfast was good but simple. Only one toaster with a crowd.
-
Easy nice stay

BEST location to get around to everything on foot. Very impressive staff…no matter which shift, all were friendly, personable, kind, and gracious.

Great hotel and location to the art museum, theatre, and riverfront area. The free pinball machines onsite was a wonderful update for our family, along with the other games, include lifesize Connect4. We also loved the burger place that replaced the former restaurant within the hotel. Provides a different option than the local, more formal restaurants in the area.

Older hotel. Needs deep cleaning. Carpets and chairs heavily stained in room. Amenities fees are crazy for what they offer. Good location and ac works well.

When I was there, parking was full, they never got the message, they never called me back. Took forever with an unhelpful person to check in. Would not refund me for the parking and charged for a candy bar I didn't pick up. They said I could park on the street and I got a ticket.

the hotel could use a bit of maintenance the carpets in my room were ripped, the bathroom ceiling's pain was bubbling and chipping away and the shower head could be replaced. Great value for the price however really needs some maintenance done!
