Hotel Vance, Portland, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel

Cute!

I chose this hotel due to there being a bar. I called the front desk, was told that the bar closed at 10pm. Went down at 9:42 and was told they did last call at 9:40… very frustrating experience as the nearest open bar was a mile away.

Staff was great! Very helpful in suggesting places to go and making our experience wonderful.

The room was clean and the bathrooms are huge. The rooms are SO dark, though. Very minimalist with cement ceilings and no significant lighting. The staff brought us a microwave which was great to heat up leftovers.

When we first checked in, we found more than 10 hairs in the bed—a mixture of head and body hair—which made it appear that the sheets had not been changed. We called the front desk and were told housekeeping would be notified. After hearing nothing back, we called again. A very helpful staff member asked us to come to the front desk to swap rooms. Unfortunately, when we arrived, we were initially told that a room change wasn’t possible. After some investigation, they were able to move us to another room and even upgraded us from a king room to a suite, which we appreciated. However, the second room wasn’t much better. The bed had three noticeable stains on the sheets and another hair. At that point, we felt it was pointless to call again given the lack of follow-up after our initial complaint. A hotel has one fundamental responsibility: to provide guests with a clean place to sleep. This hotel failed to do that in two separate rooms. No guest should have to sleep in a bed with stained sheets and someone else’s hair. I’ve stayed in many hotels over the years, and this was by far the worst housekeeping experience I’ve ever had. If I could give the housekeeping department zero stars, I would.

Comfortable, clean and quiet stay in the heart of downtown Portland. Highly walkable and easy access to public transportation. Very friendly and helpful staff.

More of the 3 star variety in my opinion. I will say. the beds were pretty comfortable. Not much of a front desk. More of a kiosk by the front door. Pouring rain and they had one umbrella. No bellmen. No valet and $50 to self park in the garage. The maid only made one bed for some reason and took a bag of snack food we had travelled with (that we weren’t done with!), but neglected to empty the trash can!! Out toilet clogged, we called for maintenance, a guy showed up and just handed my a plunger!

Room was clean and we liked it that the room has wood flooring instead of carpet. It would have been nice if there slippers for the guests to use in the room.

Hotel was well run and in a good location to the Museum and other downtown places.

Hotel Vance provided us with a great stay. Super location close to the museums and the great Saturday farmer's market at Portland State. The attached restaurant was nice. Also, I left an airpod earbud in the room and the hotel helped me arrange for it to be shipped to me. Thank you so much for the great service!

Great location. But I recommend parking at a garage nearby unless you’re okay with paying $50 overnight parking

Big room (the corner ones at least). Self-parking garage. Dog-friendly. Great Location.

I did not like that you had to pay for parking per night even though we got it validated so presumed it was free, I also did not like that the fridge was so tiny I could not even fit a tiny bowl of dog food in it without turning it sidewards

It was ok I thought it could use a little more cleanliness

First time here nice place to crash a few days. Staff was very nice I enjoyed the lounge in morning bright. Room worked for my family. Would stay again.

Close to rapid transit and walkable

Parking deck available for downtown business. Would let customers know about pricing of parking up front. Room was large and spacious .
