Breakfast was limited to just bagels and muffins. The water in the shower was lukewarm and the internet kept going out.

Met our needs for a one night on the road stay

This is our third time staying at this Howard Johnson's. The lobby is clean and inviting and most staff were friendly and make us feel welcome. The cleaning staff does a great job making the room feel and smell fresh. Our only complaint was that the dining area ran out of coffee cups and we had to go back up and bring down those from our room. Inconvenient, but not a game changer. We always recommend this Howard Johnson's to friends visiting in the area.

We slept well. Check-in and out were quick. Convenient location. Cost less than other places. Iconic Howard Johnson’s! I liked the retro posters. Breakfast area was very tight. Discoloration in tub and the shower spray was a single stream.

Front desk rep was abrupt and rude. I needed to reschedule my stay and was initially placed on hold for over 20 minutes. I hung up and called back, thinking maybe there was something wrong with the queue, got told abruptly that I was being put on hold again, waited for another 20 minutes. Hung up and called back, and he said, "If you're the person who I put on hold before and you keep hanging up, I TOLD you that you're ON HOLD." I ended up having to eat the cost of a hotel room I never stayed in.

Plenty of parking, clean room. A bit out of the cute / historic part of Portsmith and a Lyft was hard to get. Breakfast was minimal. It serves my needs.

Simple spot, nothing fancy. Not the nicest hotel. But the room was very clean, and it was a good option for a less expensive but clean and safe spot to stay for a night. I’d stay again.

Not much Room was like a dungeon

Our assigned room had not been cleaned/turned over when we arrived in the evening. We were reassigned to a basement room which was super damp. Sheets, towels etc felt moist. Gross. Then the door's electronic "card swipe " lock just stopped working half way through our stay. Even the master card wouldn't work. Thank goodness there was an old school key that we used for the rest of the stay. Toilet was also not working properly. Nice staff but this place needs some TLC.

The check in was very quick. All the staff was very nice and helpful. The room was very clean and spacious.
