Loved the hotel. The bar was inadequate. The bartender did not have available basic ingredients for martinis or manhattan. No fresh garnishes. Pre-made cocktails were unfortunately the go to at the bar. The property itself had a lot of character.

This hotel is cozy and cute, every room has been designed to perfection. The staff is friendly and they provide a nice breakfast that feels like being at home! The suites are large and well equipped, the bed was well made and comfortable. The bathrooms are completely remodeled with nice and large showers. We enjoyed our stay here and were able to explore the town without having to drive around but the included parking is a real bonus.

Very convenient to the attractions in portsmouth

Check-in was quick and easy. The lady was super friendly. The "European" breakfast was fabulous! Hard boiled eggs, meats, pastries- sweer and savory, all kinds of fresh fruits, overnight oatmeal, and so much more!

We liked the vintage character of the hotel, very cozy, unique, and quiet. The bathroom was upgraded and new, so the bed. The room was big and comfortable and everything was clean. We appreciated that we could open the window. Parking was in the back of the building and easily accessible. Breakfast was included and there was a variety of choices from bagels to dairy products and fruits. All in all, a great place to stay. Highly recommended.

What a great find…well appointed with nice touches everywhere. Excellent staff and breakfast. Well worth it and a bit off the main downtown area which is awesome. No noise and a small 0.5 mile walk
-
The biggest positive was location as we could walk downtown Portsmouth, which was lovely.

This is a unique little hotel in a very good location in Portsmouth. The room was a bit pricey, but nicely appointed, aside from the fact that it lacked a refrigerator. A European style, continental breakfast was include.

We enjoyed a wonderful stay at The Hotel Portsmouth. It's a beautiful building with ample sitting areas to enjoy a leisurely 'European-style' breakfast (small plates) or just have a cup of coffee, read a book, etc. The only downside is that there is no central air conditioning, since it is an older building. The window AC unit works just fine, but it does mean that you can't fully use the blinds on the windows - which meant we woke up with the sun every morning.

This is a great place to stay in Portsmouth. The rooms, living spaces, and outdoor areas are all very charming. The best part is the location. It is only a short walking distance to the Portsmouth shops and restaurants.
