It was credible experience, just like Hilton, something that you would expect very neat, very cordial, and a free upgrade. Because we are Hilton Honors members down that the pleasantries have been said, I must say it was a little off-putting to sleep on stain Sheets

Excellent stay. Hotel is tops. Location is superb. Staff is efficient and friendly.

Did not realize I was gonna pay $45 extra for valet parking. I did not know they had any other options for parking.

Nice place walkable to all restaurants

The staff was very nice and helpful however the room didn't feel super clean. We asked to have our sheets changed as both beds had small stains on the sheets. They switched our room and then we found many hairs on both of our bed sheets. The shower also had mold around the edges.

If you book early for a better rate you pay more. It happened to me twice now where I booked well in advance only to find that the offered room rate on the days of my stay was substantially lower. As by almost $ 100 per night. So be forewarned. Carpet in the rooms is another one I do not like. You are never sure how clean it is. The toilet in our room were not for the elderly. Never seen a toilet that low. Still the old fashioned bathtub in the bathroom. A walk in shower would be nicer. Bear in mind, the room was $ 363. And then they still want $ 3 for a bottle of water that is already in the room. Or you can buy one for $ 6 in the pantry. They have no free parking, only valet at $ 45 per full 24 hours. In and out privilege. They only clean the room every other night that includes the bathroom so if you want to you have to ask for clean towels. Bar opens at 5 pm. Windows were clean. Valet parking is efficient and they are right there in downtown. There is also a residence inn and a Sheraton. And many others. Enjoy your stay in Portsmouth.

When we arrived the room had a musty odor and was warm but the air conditioning was running. When we arrived back from dinner, the room was warmer. We played with the thermostat which was set to 66 degrees but clearly wasn't working properly. I could not find any specific instructions in the room about setting the temperature. But there was a white 2 by 2 inch pad on the wall under the thermostat. Tapping that pad lit up lights on it but had no effect on the thermostat temp setting, but the A/C came on for real and eventually cooled the room properly. I think that control pad was an ADA accommodation but how would you know with nothing on it to indicate its function. The room was poorly lit. A floor lamp did not work at all. The reading lamps at each side of the bed had very low lumen output and I could barely read with the poor light. Without these two problems, this would be an excellent review all around.

This is a clean, quiet hotel with very helpful staff. The two-double room was quite spacious. The pool was TINY, better for wading than actual swimming (but the town has an indoor and an outdoor pool you can use for five dollars a visit). There is a 24 hour exercise room, which is nice. I would stay here again.

HGI used to provide real glassware in the rooms, now it’s plastic or paper. Sinks and tubs poorly drain and bathroom fixtures are loose and marginally functional. The lobby used to have a pleasant bar area that is now gone. HGI used to have a real breakfast available, no a kiosk and microwave…like a Motel Six. Sad sign of the times,..

I was not impressed by this property for a few reasons: cleanliness wasn't great, the bedding was rough to the touch and frayed on the side, we only had 3 bath towels for 4 people in the room, and the air conditioning was not adequate for the hot weather. We could not adjust the temperature lower.

Valet parking was convenient. Friendly staff, great location.
