The most beautiful hotel and a wonderful experience

Very well-located property with decent-enough accommodations and an easy check-in, check-out process. No issues whatsoever!

Very nice place and convenient to everything in town. Not used to staying anywhere where there is basically no staff around but it wasn’t much of a problem after all. No parking was also a bit of an issue but we figured out the nearby town lot that was free and allowed 72 hour stay. We are seniors and would have paid for valet service but as I stated earlier no staff around from what i could tell. We did enjoy the room and the heated bathroom floors were nice. I would stay here again but I think more staff availability would be nice

Unique mod vibe with desert colors, decorated with beautiful local and other art, nice amenities bar. The restaurant smelled delicious and ambient music was tasteful. Room was emasculate very comfortable. So comfortable we overslept and I got a parking ticket by forgetting to run down the street and pay the meter (100% my fault NOT the hotel)

The room was beautiful with no detail spared, and we could walk to everything downtown. It got a bit noisy at night because we were on the first floor and there were a lot of people mingling on the sidewalk outside. Parking was difficult with only a small garage and no late access so we opted for the city garage four blocks away.

And very close to major shopping street, riverfront, and downtown music venues. No parking on-site, and extra charge for off-site parking.

The room was small but nice and had a heated bathroom floor. Cute theming and pleasant interior. The front desk person was a bit indifferent to us. She wore headphones for much of our first interaction. Not mean but not friendly or helpful really. The whole tone of our email interactions was brusque as well. Our parking question was “denied”. Odd.

We had a wonderful time staying at Hotel Thaxter! The location was perfect for walking around Portsmouth, plenty of local shops and restaurants around. The staff was very helpful and provided some great recommendations. We enjoyed our stay and would certainly stay again if we travel to Portsmouth.

This was a wonderful boutique hotel-we had a fantastic stay. Very comfortable, close to everything and every thing was just perfect.

Property was beautiful! The staff was so communicative and professional. Bed was so comfy and everything was so clean! Made me feel right at home.

Hotel Thaxter has character! Beautiful space with great amenities. Valet parking, soda water on tap, nespresso machine, self check-in and heated bathroom floors. I love this place!

Right next to the Music Hall-- very convenient! Beautiful thoughtful decor.

The staff were wonderful: they cheerfully accommodated our wish to access our room early. Everyone was kind and helpful. The rooms were spotless, the bed extremely comfortable. The location is perfect: the Thaxter is in the heart of the old port city and you are surrounded by beautiful historic buildings, good restaurants and interesting shops. We will gladly stay there again.

Hotel was clean. Had everything we needed. Great staff and great/clean food. Awesome location. This hotel was very great except the shower. The bathroom was cold and it’s an open door shower so it’s not warm till the end of the shower. Kind of defeats the purpose of having heated floors. I think the shower should have a door and better heat or better insulation for the bathroom window. The room has great heat and a bougie coffee/ tea maker. I would rate a 4 1/2 out of 5!

Avery (sp) Mikaela, and Merle were beyond warm and welcoming. We LOVE Hotel Thaxter! There was nothing to dislike. Everything was exceptional!
