Renaissance Portsmouth-Norfolk Waterfront Hotel

Rooms are modern and decent size bathrooms. Lighting in the rooms are nice. The TV is a nice size and I love the views of the river and scenery from the rooms. I like the fire pits and bar and friendly staff at the restaurant. No valet service. The parking garage is too far and not attached to the hotel. Also the garage is creepy and dark at night with no security driving around to monitor the garage. Also the service desk is too far from the front of the hotel and is a long walk especially for someone who has mobility issues. There should be more seating in the front of the hotel and staff to greet and more valet carts for that size hotel. Breakfast is expensive but does offer variety of options and has nice views for seating. Also the elevator is far away from the front door and check in desk. It would be nice to have a little live entertainment and themed nights on slow days or some type of music. The toilet in the bathroom is very small and low to the floor

Waited 30 minutes to get checked in and they didn’t have a king room available that I booked. That was a tough start after a long day traveling

The front desks ladies knew nothing about the amenities . I asked if the pool was heated , they said no. They had issues checking us in. It smelled like bad body odor and the rooms smelled horrible. The food was okay.

The hotel is beautiful and you get a water view. The rooms are very clean and decorated beautifully. I will definitely stay at the hotel again when I go back to Portsmouth, Virginia. Very friendly staff and good restaurant. Quality Hotel

My family did not see the menu for breakfast. Are there specials for individuals who are staying there?

Hotel was by the water & ferry. The staff were friendly but there was not enough of them. The computers kept glitching when checking in & out, and only one of the elevators was in use while guests were checking out.

Nice hotel but could use updating. You definitely need shower shoes. Orange rust in the tub. The bathtub needs updating heavy..

Housekeeping never came to clean our room. All weekend the staff gave us the excuse that they were short staffed in response to poor service. The elevators and common areas were outdated and need to be renovated. Front desk never apologized for issues during our stay,

Location was great. The shower head in the shower was extremely poor. Was frustrated that the hotel didn’t accept cash. Breakfast was mediocre. Otherwise the hotel clean.
