Holiday Inn Express & Suites Redding by IHG

This location seems like corporate doesn't care about it. Everywhere you look, something needs to be repaired. The shower in our room barely trickled water out and was spraying from the connection on the wall. The hot tub next to the pool was so hot that they had to shut it down. The elevator was old and creaking. It's the worst Holiday Inn Express we've stayed at. It just seemed neglected.

Very old & rundown looking. We had just stayed at the Holiday Day Inn Express the prior 2 nights in Eureka, so we chose the Holiday Day Inn in Redding for the 3rd night on our way back from a business trip. The place needs to be freshened up, new pillows, cracks in the stucco. Just old feeling all the way around. Staff looked like she didn't want to be there. In Eureka, the guy told us a whole rundown of where everything was & about breakfast. I guess they had breakfast in Redding, but we weren't even told, so we went to breakfast off property. We've stayed at many Holiday Inn Express in CA, NV, AZ, NM, & TX, this was by far the dingiest.

Dirty, toilet seat didn't fit, the hot tub was moldy and cold the pool cloudy and not inviting.

It was clean and comfortable. The front desk clerk called my room at around 9pm.

The sofa was very dirty, and the pillows smelled of sweat! The carpet reeked! The towels were worn out! The floor-to-ceiling windows in the dining area were filthy! The bedroom was far too small—it would feel very cramped for four adults!

The staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel was clean and met our needs (safe space to stay overnight and an easy breakfast in the morning). The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is that it had the absolute worst sound insulation of anywhere I’ve stayed. You could hear word for word conversations people were having in several rooms on our hall, as well as the sound of someone’s CPAP. I assume they could hear us and our children speaking as well. For one night I did not mind (although it did stress me that my kids might be bothering others any time they spoke) but if it was for a longer stay I would prefer to stay elsewhere with better sound dampening.

Nothing good about this poorly maintained and dirty HI Express. In room safe don’t work, bfast limited options even compared to other HI express locations. Not a good value at all. Avoid

Breakfast was nice, large room Called the front desk 2 times from the pool and asked for towels, as they were all out. Waited 15 min each time. Said he would bring towels right away. Never came. Saw him walk by the pool window at least 3 different times, head down typing on his cell phone. Never got towels. My whole family had to walk back to our rooms soaking wet. This part was just bad customer service, kind of ruined my day after driving 8 hours that day. Would probably stay at another place next time, as this just put a bad taste in my mouth after this experience.

My advice, check with the hotel in advance if booking through Expedia to ensure they have your reservation. Save the headache during checkin.
