Candlewood Suites Richmond - West Broad by IHG

I stayed here with my partner for the weekend. We booked online and checked reviews which were good and I can say they were accurate. It was clean and the location was great. Very convenient for all our activities, had food and stores close by, and close to the highway. Parking is $7 a night and guests have to pay too if they stay overnight. The beds were super soft and the A/C was jumping. The problem was right after we checked in. My partner checked around the room to be sure nothing was out of the ordinary. I guess all the slamming of the cabinets startled the critters and a roach came running across the room. We politely asked for another room and they gave us one on the opposite side of the building on a different floor. It seemed like an upgrade too, which was nice. We did the same check and everything seemed fine but I got up on the second night to use the bathroom and there was another roach crawling up the wall. That was a spooky time for us, we should've just asked for a refund after the first instance.

Rude Customer Service and plus they take my $50 deposit. Return in order. Return back yet. No, next time to stay this place

There was also what seemed like a leak. When I called the front desk he said the person who does that is gone for the day. I said ok thinking anyone that was above a supervisor would know you have to find the source and if “you” can turn it off. So I put the thermostat and put it up to a higher number so the unit would turn off.

Our room had an automatic light in the kitchen that would randomly come on glaringly bright throughout the night. It was horrible! Kept waking me up. Morning staff did not care.

Very old furniture, so the pictures must have been when it was first opened. Our room smelled like weed, missing cabinet doors, sink smelled awful. No restaurant, even though the website said there was one. Outdoor sitting area was the only decent thing. Luckily the weather was nice so we didn’t have to stay in the room.

Con: why do I ALWAYS end up seeing roaches outside(never found in my rooms tho)

I like having som a where to cook a simple meal while I was in town The dishwasher was dirty there is a ice maker but no ice tray to catch the ice. The communication after checkout was terrible my credit card was charged random amount with no explanation. I had to call and ask for a receipt and I still have not received one or a proper explanation for the random charges.

Rooms weren't clean enough. Furniture old with stains on couch. Fridge leaked when using ice machine. Not enough towels. No blanket for sofa bed just sheet. Hallway smelled. Beds were very hard.

It's a great place to stay. However, the box springs were a little squeaky every time we moved or adjusted, our sleeping position in the bed. Had a little trouble with the toilet float. But other than that, everything was good.

The over all Stay was nice. Staff was helpful, Water was hot. Ice was available. The room was spacious and comfortable. Once in the room no outside noise could be heard. THE WIFI! Maybe the bedroom carpet & No free breakfast.

Our room was very nice and clean. The kitchen area and separate bedroom area was cozy. The entire property was well maintained and I would definitely stay here again.
