Comfortable and affordable stay

I can't say enough about the breakfast buffet. It was absolutely awesome. Staff was friendly and nice and very accommodating. We would be very happy to stay at Hotel Gibbs again. Property is right across the street from the Alamo. Very convenient to most of the attractions including the Riverwalk. See you again soon. Thank you for making us feel right at home.

I was in search of a last minute room night due to a plumbing issue in my home. I found Hotel Gibbs which had a really great rate and was conveniently located near my office. Being a local and in the meetings/hotel and event industry myself I realized I had never stayed at this property. Needless to say, I booked it. I was a little weary at first because of the construction across the street but it did not bother me at all as I had to be up early for work anyway. The staff at the front desk was very welcoming - Sarah hit all the right talking points as if she was reading my mind. My room was clean, cozy and my bed was delightful the AC was perfect - nice and cold. I had breakfast the next morning which was great all the way around. The staff in the dining room showed a pleasant to everyone that walked in for breakfast. I felt like I was at a local diner. I know why this is San Antonio's best kept secret. Perfect for families on the go or an explorer's paradise. Hope to be back soon!

Amazing property! Close by everything. The staff were really helpful. Breakfast was amazing. We ended up staying 1 more night because we loved it so much!

The front desk staff member who I had the pleasure to talk with shared the unique history of the hotel. All of this to say, she really brought a great sense of courtesy that elevated my stay at Gibbs. So much so that I am actually taking the time to write a review.

You can’t beat the location!! Included breakfast was very good and an added bonus. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Unfortunately, the hotel itself was not clean. The bathroom had mold growing in the corner of the shower wall, the carpet in our room had a strong unpleasant odor, and the bed sheets smelled heavily of bleach. The breakfast quality was poor, with limited and disappointing options. I asked the receptionist why the room was not clean, and she explained that most of the rooms are like this because the hotel is old and historic. In my opinion, being an old or antique hotel is not an acceptable excuse for poor cleanliness or maintenance. Historic hotels can still be clean, well-maintained, and comfortable. This property is in need of renovation and much better upkeep.

We chose this hotel based on the historical charm and location to the Riverwalk. The room was dirty, the sheets were dirty, the bathroom was dirty. There were cobwebs in the corner of the bathroom with the wall falling apart. The shower was gross. Passed on the free breakfast because we couldn’t wait to hit the road and get out of there. Would never stay here again.

A classic place close to everything downtown and the room was beautiful and we plan on coming back.
