The room itself was spotless, nothing was worn or old looking, furniture was in great shape, a really nice auto shade covered the main window, small kitchenette in there as well with well stocked plates and cutlery. A full sized fridge and freezer. The bed was clean and comfortable, the air conditioning was ice cold. The bathroom was well appointed with nice body wash. The only minor complaint was the shower was slow draining sometimes, that could probably be chalked up to the fact it is a very old building. The amount of natural light in the room was top notch. The staff as well were so accommodating, valets we interacted with were all professional and nice, front desk was wonderful as well. We ended up getting there quite a bit earlier than planned and they were quick to get us an early check in. They knew who I was whenever I needed to call down or anything, truly top level service. If I ever make my way back to San Diego, this is exactly where I would stay everytime.

Charming historic hotel that has been tastefully renovated. Fabulous location next to Balboa Park. Room (studio with King bed) was perfect for a weekend getaway and would have been comfortable for longer with a surprisingly well appointed kitchen. Staff were friendly and helpful. Hope to come back

The upstairs room was too loud. It was pass 12 am and they were still having a party upstairs. We could hear everything.

Staff is friendly and knowledgeable about the area and helpful with any questions. For a century old building, it is well maintained. However, be aware, the lone elevator is a bit slow and small in capacity. All in all, I’ve not stayed in a better hotel. I was very pleased.

great spot to stay. cooked meals, explored the city, close to the zoo, and a great walking trail to get to little italy and the waterfront. nice suite with two bedrooms.

Loved the room The gym was lacking

It's beautiful for such an old building, the rooms are gorgeous and you can slightly open the windows to get some air which is always nice since rooms can feel stuffy or suffocating. Conveniently right next to the Balboa Park which is a great incentive to stay here and the staff are very welcoming and polite. The main downside about the hotel is their "welcome package" which is basically their timeshare sales representative wasting your time especially if it was a long drive to get there and you just want to set your things down and decompress on your room. As for other cons.. having a single elevator is very frustrating.

Wonderful one bedroom suite. Large and plenty of closet space for long term stays.
-
Everything from my stay was perfect. The staff is so sweet and attentive. 10/10 stay. Kid friendly, there is park close by! Valet was on it
-
Great 100 year old hotel. The king suite was spacious and very nice. Only one elevator. We used the stairs most of the time. Top floor has great views. Valet parking only. They will try to sell you a timeshare while you stay there. We will not stay at this hotel again due to the valet and timeshare bs.

It was good. Parking wasn’t ideal, but that was to be expected.

Coffee pot lacked instructions, A/C operation instructions not clear, and high pressure tactics to sell time shares to us was not appreciated.
