San Diego Marriott Gaslamp Quarter

Steps away from Petco Park. The staff was so kind and helpful. The valet was courteous and helpful, even though it was packed when I arrived and the front desk could not have been nicer to me. Would definitely stay again

Location, location, location is really what this hotel has going for it, otherwise definitely not worth the price. Room amenities are limited, not the usual quality of room items- no refrigerator, was supposed to have complimentary water( didn’t) coffee set up wasn’t well stocked. White mold seen in hallway, wall wood coating peeling. Carpet wasn’t very clean. Bed was comfortable and many towels supplied.

The hotel itself was super convienently located and the roof top bar was fun. However, the bathroom itself was not clean. We had mold in our shower in two different places, and there was a previous guests eyelash extension stuck to the roof of the shower. We had asked if there was any way of getting into the room early and were told no, they were being cleaned, so this was an interesting discovery.

I talked to 6 different staff members to try to cancel a reservation I had at a very poorly maintained rooftop bar. Nobody got back to me. I only had hot water in my shower and the shampoo was empty broom was very stinky and old definitely needs to be remodeled. Very disappointing, coming from a Marriott.

Hotel needs remodeling. Staff isn’t the issue. Invest back into updating the rooms.

Great location. Rooms could use some updating but they are clean. TV is too small and located in a strange place. No refrigerator in the room.

This may be the worst Marriott I've ever stayed in. The beds needed to be replaced. Called for housekeeping service they never came. Worst of all I had to wait in line at the valet desk for my car behind the Padres fans who parked there also. Absolutely no preferential treatment for hotel guests spending $500 a night to stay there. Back of the line for me that took an extra 15 to 20 minutes to get my car. No excuses for that.

I don’t like that there’s no fridge or microwave

I was not informed that breakfast was only during the week. I had the go outside of the property to grab breakfast on Saturday morning.

My family and I tried checking in shortly after the assigned check in time (4 pm) but was told the room wasn’t ready. Inconvenient yes especially with 2 small kids but not the end of the world. Once we finally got into the room the remote was missing, the television was unplugged and a previous guest had left stickers on the walls. When staff were told about the issues they corrected them but didn’t really seem to care. They offered free breakfast but we didn’t accept because if they’re missing stickers on walls I don’t know if I trust they will wash the buffet dishes sufficiently (just my opinion). I appreciate the offer and apology but it just didn’t feel genuine. There was a musty odor on our floor but given how much humidity there is, it is understandable. Overall, the hotel is in a convenient spot but I’m not sure I would pay the money again to stay here.

The staff was great, and the room was clean. The room desperately needed an upgrade. The carpet was worn, stained, and had dark spots/holes. The water pressure was horrible. The wallpaper looked like sections had peeled then had been re-glued. The TV was small and low to the ground. The housekeeping staff had forgotten to replace the shower curtain liner and the fabric shower curtain soaked up the water from the shower and flooded the bathroom. The Housekeeping supervisor was quick to install the liner, but I wonder how many others they forgot to install ...

Overall great, hotel.

I really like that people were very polite and always saying good morning or good evening! I love the environment.

Absolute favorite place to stay in gaslamp !!

Literally walking distance from Petco, shopping, dinning, harbor. Super convenient! Only minor detail was the carpet and furniture could be cleaned.

We chose this hotel as it is across the street from Petco Park to attend a ball game. Staff was exceptionally friendly, hotel & our room was clean & well maintained. We do have some frustrations: the mattress was comfortable but the pillows were awful! They seem nice and fluffy at first but then bunch up in areas while flat in others. We both had neck aches! The towels were equally bad - felt like towels at much cheaper motels. Also no towel racks in the bathroom! Only place to hang towels between use was 1 wall hook next to the shower. The biggest issue was all the wall plugs in the room were poorly sized which caused anything plugged in the outlet to fall out if touched. That could be extremely dangerous. A minor issue was the tv in our room sat lower than the top of the bed which made it difficult to use the remote from the bed. Given these issues, I would stay at the hotel again as it is close to many great restaurants and bars, along with easy access to many great areas of San Diego.
