The Guild Hotel, San Diego Downtown, a Marriott Tribute Portfolio Hotel

Great location, clean, looks fancy. Couldn't sleep the first night, the night night was perfect. First, I was placed to a 1st floor room. The room itself was nice. However, I quickly realised that I couldn't sleep there because I could hear everything on the street, the music of the cars driving by, just the sound of people walking by... And it was a relatively quiet night. The window didn't seem to have any soundproofing... I called the front desk at midnight and asked for a different room. They quickly gave me the key to a room on the 2nd floor that was facing the courtyard. That nice, but... I couldn't sleep in that room. The room was cold, I turned off the AC. At 2 AM I found myself being cold that I couldn't sleep! I called the front desk again. Asked them if they could turn off the AC in my room. They said that maybe it could be done remotely (and it must have been), but they didn't have anyone at that hour to do it. They checked the AC controller in the room, told me it was off, brought me two blankets and a heater. The heater seemed to be fighting with AC at night, so I turned it off in the end. That night, I slept under three blankets. Getting out of bed was cold... I slept about 2.5 hours that night, and I had to work the next day - that was brutal. I did complain about it in the morning and they said they'd just cut off the AC in my room. And they did. The next night was perfect - no issues. We actually have the same AC controllers in the office rooms, and pressing the buttons there doesn't make any difference - the central air is controlled remotely. I saw the similar complains of people not being able to regulate the room's temperature... It is insane it is still not fixed. The staff nicely smiles and... fixes it the next night. No refund, nothing, just a night without a sleep and a crazy hard day after... Annoying that I booked the more expensive stay thinking that it'd help me avoid issues, that'd be more comfortable and less stressful.

We did not do breakfast during our stay. I did like the bar area Our room was quite small. I have mobility disabilities (no wheelchair) and was quite restrictive.

The pictures make this hotel look much nicer than it is. It’s just ok. The room was very clean and the staff were very good. The location is great for walking.

Accommodating Staff, safe secure, with a comfortable bedroom and a nice bathroom. The Parking was separate from the Hotel but it was adequate and located close to the hotel.

Service was excellent. My 20% on food was honored. I felt safe and comfortable. I left happy and will definitely recommend and will be back. Perfect location near harbor and near coffee shops. Walkable and easy to get around.

We had a wonderful stay at The Guild Hotel. The hotel is beautiful, clean, and comfortable, and the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful throughout our visit. The location is perfect—everything we wanted to see, including restaurants, bars, and attractions, was close by. I would definitely recommend The Guild and would happily stay here again!
