The Sofia Hotel

Staff was amazing. Rooms were comfortable. Only reason why i can’t give a 5 star review is because the TV didn’t really work. After a long day it would be nice to come back to a tv that has working channels instead of choppy signal or just not loading at all.

We enjoyed our stay. The room was pretty clean.

Loved the coffee station! Maids didnt replenish room towels when they were taken out, but the front desk was happy to supply!

Room was clean and comfortable. Staff were friendly and helpful. We loved the coffee and breakfast at the restaurant.

The room was not very clean, there were stains on the ceiling and found hair on the sheets. It was darker and our doors didnt close completely so you can hear people walking by. Also they charge extra fees aside from what expedia quotes. However the staff were friendly.

Historically Classy!

Property was very clean! Fantastic downtown location. Walking distance to Beach and GasLamp Quarter. Corner room was so roomy with lots of windows and light. Staff didn't go the extra mile, but they were polite and easy to deal with. Few minor maintenance issues like loose toilet seat and loose toilet paper holder, but nothing extreme or intolerable. Amenities were few and basic, but overall I would stay here again.

Great property. Great pool. Great staff. My only regret is that I wish my stay was longer. When I come back to San Diego, I will stay here.

Rude staff, they tried to charge us for the room when we pre booked, our booking came with 2 drink vouchers they made me show them proof because they wanted to argue it was only one but I had proof it is 2. The outlet didn’t work in the bathroom had to have maintenance come they were in the room for 40 minutes so we missed our plans and then we were told we would get half our room paid for but never received a receipt or confirmation for it.

The hotel was an older hotel, very pretty old brick building. The inside is a bit worn but comfortable. The rooms have all the amenities that you will need. The location is excellent, can walk to many different parts of the city with ease. Everyone we encountered was very nice and helpful. I would stay here again.

One of the elevators was broken down. Considering there's only two, it was pretty frustrating. They're also small elevators, so it was difficult. The location and staff were great.

Nice hotel, easy walk to Gaslamp district & Petco Park. Hotel restaurant/ bar was great.

One of the elevators was broken for the whole stay (5 days), and we needed to wait so long to get a key for the car in the parking lot.

my main problems with this place: 1. only one of the two elevators was working, there was a printed sign in the lobby that they were waiting on repairs. The printed piece of paper was yellowed and wrinkled looking like it was in place at least a year, this sign was not put up this weekend. Having half of the elevators down meant sharing one tiny elevator with 7 floors of people and staff. We had to walk up 6 flights of stairs most days. Again...this was not a new sign that the elevator was broken, it has probably been down multiple years. 2. They never cleaned my room 3 days no cleaning, you have to put a sign out when you want room cleaned...I put sign out at 8AM came back at 10PM...it was ignored everyday. I had to ask for new towels and they acted like I was putting them out. 3. This one is weird...my room was right next to the emergency exit, not that i planned to use it, but that is where they stored the two housekeeping carts. so they have two carts blocking the emergency exit at all times of day...seems dangerous. Way better places to stay in the gas lamp area that are all similar price.

Staff was great, room was a bit smaller than expected but worked well for my family of 3. There was a hot water issue but fixed right away and one day we were left with no towels but again immediately corrected when we asked, brought up within 5 mins. I could see dust around the closet edges but the bed was always made and sheets clean. Also one of the elevators was broken which made a bit of longer wait at times. Great location to walk to seaport, midway little Italy or the convention center with a lot of restaurants. It was great to have parking available as well and not have to worry about that being downtown.

My room was lovely and relaxing. I didn't know how to adjust the air conditioner and a technician was sent up within a reasonable time to help. I wish I had had time to use the free bicycle and other amenities. The only thing I would change is that I couldn't make tea with the Nespresso machine - I prefer tea in the morning.
