The pool wasn't very fun for our teens to just hang out in, as people seemed to be constantly using it for lane swim, but we still enjoyed lounging by the pool and a quick dip. Being able to use the saunas and gym were a great bonus. We walked to Gaslamp Quarter for a walking food tour and some restaurants. We also walked to the Maritime Museum and to Little Italy. We walked for supper one evening at the restaurant where the Top Gun piano scene was filmed: the food wasn't good but it was a cool place. I'd recommend just going there for a drink and eating at the Fish Market in Seaport Village instead. We used Lyft to get to and from the airport and to and from the zoo, and they were always available within a couple minutes. A huge thank you to the front desk for calling me after our check-out that we had forgotten our passports in the safe; security held them for us in their main safe until we could retrieve them. Thank you!

The Westgate is beautiful there is no mistake about it. The rooms are immaculate and the location is second to none. Be careful though - there are a lot of hidden fees - $30.00 resort fees, for example. I would highly recommend using the parking garage across the street as well - much more economical than the valet parking.

No free bottle of wine

The hotel was perfectly located walking distance of restaurants and theaters.. The building shows its age but is maintained. Well. We did have a room facing the city train on the north side which was a little noisy at night

My wife and I stayed here for our 15th anniversary, from the moment we walked in the staff was outstanding. Joe behind the desk took care of us during check in and was awesome. He asked us questions about why we were here and congratulated us when he found out it was our anniversary. Once he found that out he gave us a room with a spectacular view of the city and a nice bottle of wine. We checked in went out and came back to a nice card and another bottle of wine from Joe congratulating us again on our anniversary. The pool area was excellent and we had a wonderful time hanging out at the poolside bar. The bartender girl working was awesome and we had great time with her wish I remembered her name. Overall I cant say enough of how great our stay was and we will for sure be staying here again.

We came back from a concert to find our room door wide open. It was definitely shut when we left which we found very odd. The shower has great water pressure, but the tub is slow in draining, so while showering we were standing in water that goes above ankle level. Lastly we were on the side of the bard which passes every 2-2.5 minutes and a horn blows every time. This made it difficult to sleep. Otherwise, the hotel is beautiful and the staff are lovely.

Pool and sauna were nice. Room was clean. Unfortunately, the loud tram passes by frequently through the night and early morning. Not good for light sleepers. Since it’s along the tracks, the area is kind of sketchy.

Enjoyed my stay I believe it was Sarah that helped us checked in she’s amazing. Room and view was fantastic really enjoyed my stay here

The location was nice and close to interstate 5 so it was easy to get to other site seeing venues.

Cons: Valet only $52 parking available by hotel. Schedule your parking through Spot Hero app to pay way less a block away. However, you can’t just go in and out of parking garages without paying each time so use tolled side street parking for in and outs and then scheduled parking when your done for the day. Gym has hours- you can’t just use it on your schedule. Sign waver in case of injury. Tea time is only available from 1-4pm. Room was humid - needed more airflow. Quite a few people living on the surrounding streets but enough foot traffic at 9 and 10pm to feel safe walking to port and back. Pro: Steamer was great to iron my linen shirt fast!

We visited on July 19th, and stayed in room 1684. The view was excellent. The Westgate Hotel is centrally located, and was within walking distance to the Gaslamp district which was great. Underground parking with an excellent valet staff who were both very friendly and helpful. The main lobby was very nice and the third floor rooftop pool was excellent. The front desk staff and the management went above and beyond to make our stay there wonderful. In closing we thought the decor of the Westgate Hotel was amazing and a really cool experience, I would recommend the Westgate Hotel in your planning on Staying in downtown San Diego.

The furniture is outdated scratched up, and the carpets are outdated, and the carpets are kind of moldy in they’re old. That’s what they need to change like they need to renovate, All the rooms,

We stay only one night on the weekend. Location was good in downtown. Rooms were very specious.

The room was clean but the furniture is a bit old. The toilet in my room "ran" the entire time I was there despite my requests to have someone come fix it. The staff wasn't terribly friendly either. Also, if you stay on the side of the hotel that faces C St, be prepared for annoying streetcar noise.

Loved my stay at the Westgate Hotel, very quaint interior decoration and they were having a tea party when we first checked-in! The hotel is charming and the valet staff were exceptionally helpful ($55 for a day of parking, that includes coming in and out). Quick and efficient staff, shoutout to the valets, they were all so friendly! My main complaints were the MTS noise from the adjacent train, for which they did provide earplugs and a white noise machine (didn't find it until later sadly :(... and a bath tub that did not drain water appropriately, so I was not truly able to shower. Otherwise, exceptional location central to downtown San Diego and public transportation, as well as metropolitan city-scape views. The price was also affordable for its boutique appeal and location, and the bathrooms were spacious/perfect for getting ready in a group-setting.. also came with robes, which I loved! Would stay here again :)

We were celebrating our anniversary, and the team went above and beyond by surprising us with a thoughtful amenity package waiting in our room. It was such a meaningful gesture that made us feel truly welcomed and appreciated. Those personal touches are what set this hotel apart. Our room was spotless, spacious, and incredibly comfortable, with every detail thoughtfully curated. The service throughout our stay was outstanding, and the location made it easy to explore everything San Diego has to offer while still feeling like a peaceful retreat. If you're looking for a luxury hotel with exceptional hospitality and attention to detail, I can't recommend The Westgate Hotel enough. Thank you to the entire team for helping make our anniversary celebration so special. We can't wait to come back!
