Staff was extremely friendly, rooms were clean and I was really impressed by the rooftop pool /lounge area. Also the gym is stayed of the art if that's important to you. Good location to get places around the city. Short walk to Little Italy for amazing food and drink.

Pros: 1) Friendly, professional and outgoing staff. Very accommodating to requests and can't say enough wonderful things about the front desk staff and concierge. 2) Hotel has nice amenities - rooftop bar and pool, gym, 20% off for hotel guests at connected spa, beautiful first floor bar and restaurant. Floris London bath and body products in rooms. 3) Located in city center within walking distance to the Gaslamp Quarter, waterfront, etc. and to public transportation for easy travel/from North Park, Hillcrest, Balboa Park, and other San Diego neighborhoods. 4) Large, quiet rooms and very comfortable bed. Cons: 1) While the bar and restaurant and main lobby have recently been renovated, other areas of the hotel, including the rooms, need a refresh and some updating i.e. carpeting in rooms and hallways. 2) Location - while centrally located - not a lot going on downtown. Horton Plaza and other retail stores have closed except for a Ross store. Lots of store/restaurant vacancies in the Gaslamp Quarter - which also seems a bit run down and dirty. There are also a lot of homeless people in the area, especially along the streetcar line, but no one bothered me. 3) The restaurant has a great menu for breakfast/lunch and dinner, but it would be nice for the hotel to offer a more quick/casual spot to buy a coffee/pastry/lite bite in the hotel.

Clean romantic location staff was kind and helpful great location.

My stay at Westgate was marked by the hotel's impressive cleanliness and the staff's outstanding hospitality. The team were consistently helpful and courteous. From the 16th floor, the view was spectacular, with planes flying in. The hotel featured a pool and jacuzzi with a stunning city view. They also have a restaurant inside the hotel. All cars were valet parked, and upon arrival, I was warmly welcomed with a complimentary bottle of wine, which I deeply appreciated. I’d highly recommend this hotel.

Great Central location, close to shopping, restaurants, and transportation. The building is a classic 1980s Hollywood Regency with aspirations to emulate versailles. Rooms are spacious, well appointed, with apartment size bathrooms, beautiful rooftop pool and bar area and work out area. Staff are friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. The restaurant is underutilized, good food, and excellent service.

Perfect location, walkable to the waterfront and restaurants. Spacious room and comfy bed. Beautiful lobby and deco. Velvet parking only ($55). Also $30 for access fee (I think it’s for the pool and fitness center, but we didn’t use). Friendly staff. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would recommend it especially for romantic gateways, anniversaries, etc.

Our favorite hotel in San Diego!

Good location

4 star hotel, not 5 star for obvious reasons. Lack of customer service, effort, value and appreciation of guests. Had to go to the front desk to hunt down a valet, rooms are dated, parking is now $55 a night, a mandatory $30 for amenties whether you use them or not. I advised from the start the disappointed that they dropped to a 4 star from the 5 star fight they always had with the U.S. Grant. It is clear they are on their way to 3 stars. I rather stay at the El Rancho Motel on Coronado for half the price, and 100x the customer service and appreciation I am shown when I arrive with my family, and how they value you me as a guest. Nothing but homeless surrounding the property, never changes.

Everything very nice and high standard. Large bright rooms with useful gym and pool, can’t comment on breakfast as left early but imagine would also be great!

Great fitness center and outdoor pool

Great place to stay!

Besides the tub not draining properly (which was fixed in no time) the room and stay was amazing. Highly recommended.

The room was great. Staff was helpful.
-
I think the only thing I hated was the fact we did not have any place to park the rental car other than the hotel…. And it was roughly 80 bucks a night ….. that added up to nearly 650 … Other than that it was a great location, great pool and workout area.

This was a splurge that was completely worth it! This is everything a hotel should be. Staff that goes above and beyond without being asked to insure you have a comfortable stay. This is next level customer service with a smile.
-
However, the overall customer service experience did not match the standard of the hotel’s appearance. The front desk staff we encountered were not particularly warm or welcoming, and at one point we walked directly in front of the reception desk without any acknowledgment from the staff member present. When we arrived in our room, there was no hand soap provided, despite the room having supposedly been through a final inspection. On our first morning, we were also woken up very early—around 6am—by loud voices and vacuuming in the hallway outside our room, which was disruptive. Service in other areas also felt inconsistent. While one valet attendant we interacted with at check-in was friendly and helpful, the overall valet and checkout experience was less welcoming. At checkout, the staff member assisting us was not particularly warm, and no assistance with luggage was offered. Overall, the hotel itself is attractive and well located, and the rooms are comfortable. However, the level of customer service and attention to guest experience needs improvement to match the property’s standard.

Just stayed for one night but check in was easy, room size was great and the rooftop pool was available for lap swimming on a Friday night. Check out was simple. Staff provided a complimentary bottle of wine. I'm coming back for high tea with my daughter. Elegant building.

Prior to the Westgate in San Diego, I don’t think I have booked a hotel where I was more interested in relaxing at the hotel vs seeing the sites. The hotel is gorgeous and inviting, the staff is attentive and friendly, the amenities and restaurant are fantastic. I highly recommend.
