Reception was efficient and lovely. Room was pretty and comfortable. Loved the atmosphere. Good coffee. Extra blanket was a plus. Liked the bar. One bartender was a bit pushy and I think she overcharged us. The bar food and breakfast weren't that good. Other than that totally enjoyed our stay.

It was a 3 min walk to the family I liked my stay

The shower broke on the 2nd night. I was given no alternatives. No change of room. No accommodations. No refund for the night. The only reason is not a 1 star is because the staff was mostly nice, especially the guy who helped us check out

I contacted the front desk immediately and asked to change rooms, but I was told that no other room was available. There was also no housekeeping available, so I had to clean the bathroom and my belongings myself in the middle of the night. Pest-control spray was used, and the strong chemical smell remained in the bathroom afterward. The next morning, there were still ants in the bathroom, including on the floor mat. The situation significantly disrupted my sleep and made it difficult to use the bathroom normally. The building and facilities are quite old, I could clearly hear footsteps from the room above, which made it very difficult to sleep. In addition, the ceiling fan would sometimes turn on by itself for no apparent reason, which was quite disturbing, especially at night. There was also a lot of hair and body hair on the mattress underneath the thin bed sheet, which was very unpleasant and made the room feel extremely unclean. Overall, the combination of the ant infestation, cleanliness issues, poor soundproofing, and outdated facilities made it very difficult to get a good night’s sleep. This was a very disapp

I would put more options for breakfast

This stay was a basic overnight for my wife and I. The Majestic was a reasonable choice at a decent price. We booked a Double Queen room and what we got was quite small compared to what I expected from a "double room". Otherwise it was a good value for the money. Hotel was clean, our staff interaction was good, the included breakfast was decent, and the location was good. The Pacific Heights neighborhood is very clean and safe, with the Fillmore St shopping/restaurant district within a 15min walk.

I so enjoyed the historic charm of the Majestic Hotel! Each of the staff I interacted with was very welcoming and helpful. When I first arrived in the room after checking in—unfortunately both the height of the bed and the claw foot tub were not going to work for my slight accessibility issues, but luckily the desk staff was able to offer me another room more in keeping with my needs (thanks Maria!). While somewhat more simply decorated, the room was lovely, clean and comfortable. I appreciated the daily room refresh/turndown, the continental breakfast, the beautiful decor in the lobby and adjacent rooms, the very accommodating and unpretentious staff. Excellent location. Will definitely book a next San Francisco stay at the Majestic Hotel!

Clean, quaint and breakfast was delicious

while this is a beautiful 125 year-old building it needs about a $10 million investment to bring it up to a four star rating. Many of the outlets were not working; several of the windows did not close properly and one was cracked: there is no on-site parking which was misleading from the website. The bathroom smelled like urine. The refrigerator precariously installed in the bathroom, which seemed unsanitary. It was hot and noisy. Beautiful if you like 125 year-old buildings not if you are looking for a comfy restful stay. The staff were very kind and polite and helpful.

The bed was very comfortable, and the views from our room were grand. It is such a beautiful place it made me sad to see it running with a skeleton staff. Where's the concierge/bell captain? Our efforts to organize a small birthday gathering in the bar via the email provided never got a response, so we ended up surprising the Saturday night bartender with the news.

Friendly desk staff, quiet area, clean rooms comfortable bed, and hot water. Breakfast was good—not special but good. Would have preferred better bakery goods. But overall a great value!

Our stay was fine but noisy. Maybe it was the location of the room but we heard sounds coming from the rooms above, the bar below, and down the hall during our entire stay.

The towels are old and should be replaced

The King Suites are huge! Incredible value for the amount of space you get. The bar in the lobby is a really nice perk, as is the free continental breakfast. Great for families trying to experience Japantown or Pac Heights while being a little closer to the city center. The decor is a little dated, but it totally fits the European-Victorian vibe of the pre-earthquake hotel.

There was a variety for breakfast of basic items such as bagels, muffins, yoghurt and some fruit. There was waffle maker which is a novelty for international visitors. Probably best to head to breakfast early as later choice was somewhat more limited and tables weren’t cleaned after previous guests. Staff were super helpful and first person to greet us was so friendly. Location is up a hill but that’s a given in SF. Location worked for us (by having the Muni travel pass) but wasn’t too close to the main areas (we were generally walking a few blocks even to get to transport). I’d be happy to stay again.

We enjoyed the quiet and convenient location by Japantown. It was about a 10 minute walk. The hotel is very comfortable but the breakfast was not impressive compared to other similar hotels. It is an older hotel but exactly what you would expect for the price. Close to buses and train routes. Easy to get around. Air conditioning was weak but tolerable.
