The entrance and bar was so beautiful. It was amazing to sit and relax after a busy day of walking around during the festival. Will absolutely visit again!

A very comfortable hotel in a convenient location that provides guests with everything they need. The constant availability of tea, coffee, and two kinds of water in the lobby was particularly appreciated. The landscaping is simple but beautiful. My room was clean and quiet, with a nice view. I highly recommend!

The property is beautiful and in an interesting part of town. The breakfast is fabulous and they have a lovely gym for a boutique hotel. The rooms have sliding doors and balconies with great views. Loved it!

We checked in on Sunday and shortly after that we met friends for dinner. By the time we returned to our room, the temperature outside had dropped to 61 degrees. The thermostat in the room said 66. That is too cold to sleep. We adjusted the thermostat to heat and set it on 74. An hour later the fan was blasting and the inside temperature had dropped to 65. I was freezing. I didn’t sleep. In the morning we stopped at the front desk to report the problem. The young lady said they would send someone up to fix the heat. I told her we would be out for the entire day. When we returned it was almost 10pm and the thermostat was set on COOL with the fan off and it was 65 degrees in our room. I went downstairs to the front desk and asked what was going on. The gentleman at the desk said he’d send someone up. I said if it couldn’t be fixed that I would like a new room where the heat did work. We returned to the room to wait for an engineer. Then I get a call from the front desk and he explains that the ENTIRE BUILDING has been turned to cooling- it’s a centralized system. Now it’s 60 degrees outside and only 64 inside. I asked about a space heater- they found none. I do not understand a “luxury” hotel where the guests cannot control their temperature of their room. I get it that it’s summer- but summer nights in San Francisco are cold.

    Loved our short stay

  • Engine customer Jul 2026

We really enjoyed our stay here because the rooms were clean and modern and the staff was very warm and there was a very nice restaurant next-door. It’s a short walk to explore Japan town overall I give it a 8.9 out of 10.

We would stay at Hotel Kabuki again. The walking friendly location in the center of Japan Town is phenomenal. Also, the staff and the lobby are wonderful...and there is a great complimentary coffee machine in the beautifully furnished and light filled lobby! The staff is so kind. Also, parking, which seems confusing at first with no valet service is actually a breeze in the hotel lot or even easier in the municipal lot underneath the hotel with direct hotel access. It also seems to be very welcoming for dogs and there are plenty in the lobby!

Great location right next to the Japan Center Mall. Room was spacious and clean and comfy bed. Nice bar and garden and great gym. Would definitely stay here again.

Super cool hotel, lovely staff, and a fun neighborhood. We arrived early, and the staff allowed us to check in early with an upgraded room. So nice after an early travel day!

The staff was kind and helpful during our stay there. Our room was clean and had a cheerful & fun design to it.

  • Engine customer Jul 2026

My first room was not good. Very stuffy and way too large and sparse. The lady at the desk helped me get a better room andshe was great and changed me right away. I just felt hotel could have been a little cleaner but I had a good stay.

Breakfast is too expensive and don't have enough to eat.

The hotel itself is beautiful—clean, sophisticated, and thoughtfully designed with a peaceful atmosphere that feels like a retreat in the middle of the city. Our room offered wonderful views, and every space we visited was impeccably maintained. One of our favorite aspects was the location. Japantown is a clean, quiet, and walkable neighborhood filled with kid-friendly shops, unique bookstores, fun cultural experiences, and some of the best food in San Francisco. It was the perfect place to celebrate a family birthday weekend while still being close to everything the city has to offer. If you’re looking for a relaxing, stylish, and family-friendly San Francisco hotel, Hotel Kabuki is an easy recommendation. We left feeling refreshed and already looking forward to our next visit. Oh and they have the BEST coffee machine in all of SF!
