I rarely leave negative reviews, but my experience at the King George Hotel was extremely disappointing. I booked this hotel through Expedia and originally reserved a room with two twin beds. After realizing the beds would be too small for my family, I requested—through Expedia—to change the reservation to a room with two queen beds. I received confirmation that the request had been approved and my reservation had been updated. When I arrived, however, I was given a room with only one queen bed, which was not what I had requested or what had been confirmed. When I politely explained the situation to the front desk, I expected them to help find a solution. Instead, I was met with a dismissive attitude. I was essentially told that if I didn’t like the room, I could find another hotel, and that I should take the issue up with Expedia. No effort was made to accommodate my family or resolve the problem. To make matters worse, the hotel provides no meaningful assistance with parking. Guests are simply left to figure it out on their own, which is particularly inconvenient in downtown San Francisco. The room itself was acceptable, but customer service is what defines a hotel experience, and unfortunately this hotel failed in that respect. Being treated with indifference after arriving with my family was frustrating and stressful. I cannot recommend this hotel based on my experience, and I would not stay here again. I hope the management takes guest concerns more ser

Great area close to useful 38 bus line and the BART. no one bothered me and i value that as a solo traveler. Served pastries in the morning which helped save money on breakfast and were super yummy! Comfortable room even if it was a little old and be warned it was noisy but im not too picky. Only one elevator which was a little annoying because the building has like 9 floors and a ton of people use it constantly so you have to wait a while but it’s not a dealbreaker. Good price for the area and i felt safe walking the streets alone even when it was getting dark out.

My second day after unpacking and hanging or putting away a week's worth of clothes , shoes, refrigerator items and toiletries, I was told my room would have to be changed because the power had gone out. On day 4, just as I was preparing to go on a tour, I was told my room would have to be changed for a 2nd time because there was a leak in the room above mine. Oddly enough, the room they moved me into was the room above mine. When I pulled the covers back, the sheet was wrinkled, had a stain and a long black hair. They charge a $15 a day amenity fee, but what amenities? Coffee in the morning in the lobby? I don't drink coffee. They moved me twice, but never even offered an "upgrade". The rooms had dirty carpet and no A/C The noise outside keeps you up all night. There is one tiny elevator for 9 floors so it is sometimes 10 minutes to get an elevator. The only bright spot was the staff was very cordial.

I was nervous when we checked in and there was not an AC in the room. It was July and I was concerned at being hot. In the end it all worked out. The elevator was slow, but it was a great old charm. It was clean and that is what I was concerned with. I would stay here again.

Conveniently located close to union square market and Powell st. Friendly and helpful staff. Charming property.

The bed and bathroom were clean but tge room had really old carpet. They require a deposit even if the room was fully paid, and then they charged 45.00 to my card with no explanation. Only steps from the Tenderloin.

Lovely hotel near all the fun stuff in Union Square. Welcoming vibe in the lobby with comfy seating, a pool table, and a little bar (beers & bfast). Rooms are lovely with vintage SF features and comfy linens. Great price and a $36/night parking garage right across the street.

Great place to stay in union square. Perfectly centered. Two diner restaurants conveniently within a few steps from the lobby. I will be booking here again when visiting San Francisco. Love the pastry and breakfast there in the mornings.

I prepaid in June 2026 and called the hotel on July 2, 2026 to discuss handicap accommodations and was told that a comment would be added to the reservation. Arrived on July 8, 2026 and was told that my booking could be canceled and I would have to find a hotel for myself, my sister and my handicapped cousin. Then we were offered to stay in a non handicap accessible room until July 10, 2026 and then change rooms. I called on July 10th and had to argue with the manager, on the phone because she wasn't there, and was given the proper rooms. Then the handicap shower stopped working. When I complained and demanded to speak to the manager, I was told that we had to get out of the hotel that day. I called the police, who came and told them that we were staying. Our final night went peacefully and we left without drama.
