The Hotel G is a decent hotel right near Union Square. It’s pretty old and the registration desk looks pretty bad. The elevators are old and tired and it’s one of those hotels right on a busy street, Geary in this case, so if you get a room right on the street no matter what floor you’re on. You’re gonna hear a lot of street noise so I would recommend if you stay there to stay in the rooms in the back. The rooms are OK nothing special, in our case they had redone the bathroom and it was very nice. The windows are old and dirty and like many of the old hotels it has the heating and cooling on the window case. We chose a room with a king bed and while roomie the mattress was very average and you just kind of sunk into it. The staff was very helpful and had great attitudes. That helped make the hotel better. The price of a room is very fair compared to the San Francisco market and they also gave us a $20 voucher which you could use in the restaurant bar next to them or for breakfast in the small café. Overall, it was a good experience. I was hoping for a little nicer hotel as most of the reviews gave it four or five stars.

Great location and great staff. Clean room, l’m a repeat customer and love staying here.
-
Building seems a bit outdated but clean. Seems like they were remodeling. What makes this place what it is , is the prime location to union square!
-
Centrally located in the city made it easy to walk or uber to different points of interests
-
Helpful staff, clean room, great location.
-
Under Reno. No carpet on the floor in the room. It’s barren and cemented. Cold.
-
They were either renovating or something but hard cement floor elevators took forever especially if you on the top floor.

The property is operating while doing renovations. It still maintains a charm. And you can tell when these renovations are complete, it’s going to be an amazing hotel. All the staff we came across were friendly and helpful. It’s a great Union Square location, with restaurants, bars, and shopping close by. The renovations did not bother us. For some they may pose an inconvenience. However the pricing was fair because of it. We look forward to returning to see the final product.

Centrally located but rooms had no carpets , toilet was not that great and elevator was so old that I never felt safe on it. However it is centrally located so it’s easy to go anywhere
-
Super slow elevator. For every trip with elevator there was like 5 or more minutes waiting time and by the time it reached you, it was full sometime.
-
The hotel overall was very nice. The room was newly remodeled and the air worked great. The elevator is being renovated and there was often a large wait and also it was looked in disrepair. It was a great location. Parking was expensive. Parking was at the Westin a few buildings down.

Room was clean. Excellent location. They were doing some renovations on the property. Photos look nicer than actual property.

It seems this hotel may have changed hands the old staff seem to be the nice ones while there’s some not so happy front end staff that just screens run away, but besides one employee the staff was 101 percent and the hotel has age old charter it’s beautiful but it’s sort of mid under construction feeling, maybe funding ran out for remodels not sure but me and my wife will certainly give them another try because it was amazing and the location is spot on dime. Priced right likely due to the remodel reasons and elevator issues are major plan on wait extended times for the elevator during the rush hours A- 1 with love ❤️

Things I loved: - Staff - Ease of Check In - My room on the 9th floor (upgraded room) was fantastic, roomy and very clean - Great location Things I disliked: - The hotel door locking at 7pm and needing to buzz in. Felt hostel like. - The closed restaurant/cafe - Elevators are under maintenance and staff take the same as guests so elevators had laundry and cleaning carts in them and hard to squeeze in as elevators are small - I found the white tile floors in hotel entrance dirty and that wasn't a great first impression.
-
Nice place, great staff but this is not a 4 star hotel. Really good location as well.

Loved it we will be back

I really loved my room. It was spacious and well designed. The breakfast was a disgrace! Honestly, I was shocked at how bad it was. It should be free for what is on offer and I'd then say it was a great little extra but it's no way worth paying for.

We stayed in the studio suite in a corner room. Great hotel with a nice Speakeasy on the mezzanine level. Helpful staff and great location.
