Good location, it very central and had easy access to everything I wanted to do. The staff were also so lovely and very accommodating! The location is on the cusp of a bad part of the city however it’s very easy to avoid though.

I was truly thrilled when I booked the room. It was exactly what I was looking for. The staff was so friendly and gave me tips for the area. The room was really clean as well as the facilities too. Def recommend!

No ac. Stood outside for 10 mins before someone answered the bell.

Upon arrival desk service was rude and not welcoming. Once checked into the room we noticed a few appliances not working/ outlets as well. We called the front desk and was told there’s nothing they can do Ridley and hanged up. Asked to speak to a manager and was denied stated nothing they can do at the time and that they can’t change our room either way because they are sold out for the night. There was a change of shift and the following person that came was a lot nicer and apologized for the inconvenience. Overall the experience there was not great. I do not recommend it. The area at night is also very active meaning a lot of homeless and noise.

We arrived early, they allowed us to go to our room sooner than the standard check-in time. The place is well-located, with easy access to restaurants, bars, and public transportation. This is not to blame the hotel itself, but the block around it is full of junkies and homeless people. It's frightening when you walk around. There are often screams coming from the street during the night. We had a problem with our toilet, which got blocked after the first usage.

The hotel is in terrible location, hundreds of homeless people and doing drugs around, the room has bugs and dirty, dusty and just not clean at all , doesn’t have own bathroom, no AC , and pretty much a dirty and definitely not in a safe environment. They have a $250 deposit absolutely a ripoff ridiculous pricing for such horrible hotel . Don’t know how this hotel is up to code , it should be reported

if you plan on coming into town for vacation I have a recommend not cooking this property they do not allow gas and you have to be buzzed and every time you go or enter the property vary inconvenient I felt like I was being watched by a warden

I highly recommend the Layne Hotel. Thank you. There was nothing I didn't like

I fully expected a budget hotel with no frills and that’s exactly what I got. But it was quite good value, clean, exceptionally quiet and the staff were very professional. The room was small but fine. The microwave and fridge worked well. There was no sink in the tiny tiny shared toilet—I only hope everyone went back to their rooms to wash with soap and water. But I did not like the idea of people opening the door with unwashed hands.

It was close to where I needed to be, which was salesforce The location had a lot of degenerates around it. And there is no air conditioning in your room. To get in you literally need to go through two locked entrances, which didn’t make me feel safe, but also emphasized the amount of the degenerates around.

Not professional at all
-
They charged me 350 $ for a room with no bathroom. The place is disgraced It’s horrible and unacceptable
-
San Fco Downton my first time, that’s bad , No AC in the room , so you need open the windows to refresh, but the noise of the homeless can’t let you relax.

Clean, well maintained, quiet, easy check-in and check-out procedures, good communication, friendly staff. Security was fine and I felt safe. I asked the front desk for a recommendation for a breakfast cafe and got good information. The price and location couldn't be beat. There wasn't much not to like here. It's a discount hotel and I was expecting basic conditions, and what I found was more than enough to satisfy me.

Clean and friendly staff

I guess, ok deal to be in San Francisco! Small room & shared bathroom. It was clean! Location ok. Too small. No official luggage storage.

Honestly, I liked my stay there, the hotel has a certain charm to and was close to where I needed to be - the SFJazz venue and Chinatown. But it might not be for everyone, you are sharing a small restroom and another decent size shower located outside your room. Its almost like a hostel but your room is private. But for the price and location, its pretty good.

So refreshing to stay somewhere family run, real people who take active care in your stay in an authentic old school way - feels rare these days. Rooms are simple and well equipped with an ironing board, hairdryer, desk, mirror and personal sink. Location is close to the craziness of downtown, but very conveniently located for everything SF - stonethrow from union square. For this price you really cant beat it. Randy went above and beyond to provide local information and support.. he even put me on a separate female floor so I’d feel comfortable as a solo traveller. The building is proper SF style with the fire escapes and everything - with an old school lift with the cross cross shutters like in an art movie lol. Thanks for my stay.

Everything is within walking distance.

There was no breakfast, one of the 2 rooms I paid had no bathroom, it was too small and cramped together, I couldn’t sleep because the bed was too skueacky. They should specify that there’s no parking, and that certain rooms have no bathroom.
