Staff was lovely. The location was good. Right downtown with all the shops and restuarants in walking distance. The property is old and probably has not had an upgrade in a long time. Our room (Old Town) was disjointed (sink outside of the bathroom and the tub was cicra 1980 with four shower curtains). I took a shower and the water never got hot. Breakfast was fair. Parking was not optimal meaning we parked in the bank lot next door but needed to move the car before 8am so we would not get a ticket. The bed was small. We are spoiled by a king bed. This bed was 'queen', but felt more like a full. But the worst part was the noise during the night. We did not sleep at all. :( Street sweepers, trash trucks, loud cars. Make good choices.

Be aware the noisy at night, the hotel is near a bank parking lot which could be noisy at night. That's the only downside for me to stay here.

Outstanding facility with comfortable and quiet rooms. Parking is inconvenient with only one loading zone spot and a few blocks’ walk to either a paid parking garage or on-street free parking if you can find a spot. Breakfast was terrific. Hosts were gracious and helpful. Location is convenient walking distance to all of downtown. Will definitely stay again.

Cute and quaint, unfortunately I did not get to enjoy the breakfast, I had to leave early but the property was lovely and the environment perfect!

Wonderful location.

The location was easily accessible to the downtown area shops. The hotel lobby was quiet and peaceful but very small. The bathroom had a leak in the tub, and the room had stains on the ceiling. The furniture was ancient and flimsy.

We stayed in the Walden room. Everything was great, except for bed. I think it’s time to replace mattress. Mattress was lumpy, and creaky. Very uncomfortable.

Our experience at Garden Street Inn was exceptional. Situated downtown, it offers easy access to numerous restaurants. The included made-to-order breakfast was excellent. Other guests were quiet, and the bed was very comfortable. The hotel lacks its own parking lot, but there is a free loading/unloading zone in front, along with nearby free street parking and a pay parking garage. If parking isn't a concern, I highly recommend staying here. I wish all hotels treated their guests this well!

Staff was helpful and breakfast was great

The Inn is beautiful. The orange trees in front are incredible. The staff were wonderful. The location is fantastic. I purposely booked a room with a bathtub, because I don’t have one at home and was really looking forward to some much needed relaxation. But the bathroom wasn’t great, to be honest. The bathtub itself was covered with big chips, like the coating had been damaged. I didn’t want to bathe in it. Also, breakfast was supposed to start at a certain time, but when I went down, they said it would be a 30 minute wait, just for pancakes and eggs for a few people. I wasn’t able to wait because I had plans. It would be helpful if the start time was more accurate. Again, the staff were lovely.

The only comment I would make is that the mirror above the sink is set up for someone 5'3", not anyone around 6'. Otherwise the place has old world charm only a block from the downtown.

Staff was very welcoming and nice. Place is a great walkable location. A mini fridge in the room would be nice to have.

Close to town and quiet

Cute building, nice rooms, comfy bed. Liked the outdoor seating options as well as the tasty breakfast. It’s a convenient location in downtown that lets you walk everywhere. But also a bit pricey for everything you get - I chalk it up to location & convenience. Overall great stay & would consider staying again when doing things in downtown SLO.

Breakfast was intimate. Since all guests sat together, we could meet different people. I would up meeting a lovely elderly couple and spoke with them at length, since I sat with them at a table. I think one person was trying to handle custom breakfast orders for too many people. This may have delayed things, although the staff was very nice and polite.

Great friendly home environment and made to order breakfast of the day.

It is a beautiful property. I can be loud if other guests aren't concise of their voices.

The location was fantastic, close to Downtown but fairly quiet. Lovely communal areas and excellent breakfast. Friendly, helpful staff. Space to store luggage after checkout and communal fridge available for guests’ use. Complementary glass of decent wine available each evening. My room - Emerald Isle - was very attractive and comfortable, with a lovely walk in shower in the en suite The booking.com listing describes the room as having a balcony so I was expecting an outdoor space accessed through a French window or similar. In fact it was a deck accessed through an external door. A reasonably pleasant, if shady, space, but not what I was expecting (see photos). Rather than having a nice view onto a balcony as I expected, the view from one of the windows is onto the outdoor trash cans though there is a voile curtain to partially screen this. It was the idea of a balcony that made me choose this rather than another, larger room at a similar price so I was disappointed not to get what I was expecting. The hotel’s own website listing describes this as a room with a deck, which is more accurate.

Excellent Location, walking distance to downtown. Small bed, dated room decor, no one to help with luggage up big staircase. Wash hand basin in the bedroom should be inside or next to the bathroom. Limited breakfast options.
