Staff is very friendly and approachable, number of showers and bathrooms is great, breakfast is amazing, other guests interesting and fun to talk to. My 6 room dorm needed more fans, and there was a plug in smelly device that made my allergies act up, but as soon as I realized it wasn’t someone cologne I unplugged it and slept and breathed much better.

People running the front desk were very nice. The hostel is in an old house. The bed was comfortable and it was quiet. I even had a parking spot on the premises.

it’s a lovely place in a great part of town—not right downtown but there is a small commercial block near the train station. the trent staff provides meals, which is a bonus and the good is good! dinner with the other guests is a delight. Perhaps 4 people in bunk beds in a small room is a little tight and it would be good to provide designated space for each guest’s “stuff”, including places to charge phones etc. But, honestly, the benefits FAR outweigh this minor inconvenience.

Jared the caretaker was phenomenal at welcoming us in and showing the space! We booked this stay very last minute for a very reasonable price, only one night while traveling the PCH from San Fran to LA. Jared even made pancakes the next morning for all the guests. 10/10 will stay again Nothing! We loved staying here

The staff was very friendly on my arrival. I had contacted them ahead of time and asked for a lower bed in my dorm and it was reserved for me when I arrived. San Luis Obispo Hostel feels like a very charming Bed & Breakfast. I LOVED the Sourdough Pancakes that were available for breakfast. I only stayed for 1 night on my way to northern California, but I felt right at home as soon as I stepped inside. I highly recommend this hostel when visiting San Luis Obispo.
