Excellent buffet breakfast on patio

Shuttle service was excellent! Charger for my car was not functioning at the hotel, could have gone to a different location but not conveniently . Room was very nice, clean and comfortable. Bathroom was ok. In my opinion you definitely should invest in grab bars in the shower, it was precarious for me. Staff were very helpful, especially the young lady who helped us our first afternoon. Grounds were very beautiful, flowers everywhere. Overall, it was a very pleasant experience and I definitely would recommend the Gideon Putnam.

All of it was amazing!!
-
This is my 3rd time at this hotel and I will be back. Only wish the shuttle to downtown ran later .
-
I booked a day at Roosevelt spa, it just wasn’t seamless, information isn’t easily assessable. Totally separate, except the charges look the same on my credit card. The resort fee-what was it for?

It’s a historic beautiful hotel
-
onsite restaurant is closed on weekdays for lunch not sure about the dinner. but plenty of food options in downtown. accessible by train and the hotel runs a very convenient shuttle that can shuttle us anywhere within town

It’s difficult to give this gem of a place a poor rating. The staff is excellent and works hard to help the guests; the location is perfect; the shuttle is most convenient but the rooms really need to be refreshed; if not just totally renovated. It’s shameful that New York State can’t take care of their properties and bring them to a decent standard.

Really love the historic charm of the hotel. Staff friendly. Can't wait to go back.

Great location - very peaceful and tranquil.

Our room was in serious need of an update. Disappointing and depressing room, especially considering the price.

This is an amazing venue. However it is quite old and I'm sure requires constant maintenance. If your looking for modern chic, this is not for you! If you appreciate Old World charm, and are willing to look past some flaws this is a lovely place. The setting is wonderful. Beautiful walking or jogging paths throughout Saratoga State Park are right there at your doorstep. A great Golf Course is directly adjacent to the property, Also the large Victoria Pool is located directly behind the hotel. While your hotel stay gives you free access to the Pool, remember this is a public park(and pool). If I could make one suggestion to modernize, I would suggest removing the tubs in the bathrooms and replace them with walk in showers! For an establishment that draws so many seniors, this seems no no brainer !!!

The shuttle was great and so were the two drivers that we used. The only reason I did not give five stars was because our air conditioner died in the middle of the night. When we reported it in the morning, they told us we should’ve reported it when it happened so they could’ve taken care of it for us. But the last thing I wanted to do was stay up at 3 AM waiting for a service person to come in and fix it. They did fix it in the morning. Overall, it was a good stay.

Beautiful location in the park ! Pool is perfect to lounge by and have an afternoon cocktail. Staff is very pleasant - not many hotels have a “doorman” that opens the door for you - nice touch!
-
The property was amazing and very accommodating and clean. A thumbs up for sure!
-
Beautiful Hotel. Big rooms. Shuttle service to and from track all day. Beautiful grounds. nice friendly staff. will definitely stay here again,
-
Beautiful grounds but the room was tiny and outdated and the air conditioner was so loud it kept us up all night. Not worth the $$$.
-
Great location. Historic charm. Priced as a luxury hotel without any luxuries! Our bathroom was filthy. Appeared to have not been thoroughly cleaned in a long while. AC did not work and was very loud and noisy. Room was musty. Staff was not very friendly - with the exception of the lovely waitress at breakfast. Bellmen were no where around so we had to carry all our own bags to our room. Breakfast was underwhelming and overpriced for what you got on the buffet. Food was lukewarm and “fluffy scrambled” eggs were overcooked and hard. Shuttles were not timely at all.

Bathrooms can use some refurbishing

Comfortable bed. Location. Landscape. No desk or table. No Kleenex. Indifferent reception. Expensive breakfast
