Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites South Portland by IHG

The hotel smelled like dogs. Our original room had a really strong dog odor. They did switch our room and the new room was better but the hallways still smelled like animal.

Great time

We thought it was ridiculous that our maid did not leave another roll for us.

The room was clean which is always needed! Breakfast was just okay, it honestly could’ve been better. It only went to 930am which I thought was odd. The thermostat in the room didn’t work that well. Would turn it up to 68 and the heat turned on every time. That needs fixing. The only ice machine working was the 3rd floor but it wasn’t entirely inconvenient and it only happened during our stay. Overall great stay with spacious rooms.

Nice place, Nice location. I would stay there again if back in the area. (They were painting the exterior when we were there but I cannot knock them for keeping the maintenance up.)

Location There was loud maintenance going on-power washing. Door in bathroom stuck on floor when opening. Shower curtain kept coming open while showering-rod was angled.

We had to change rooms because our first room was dirty. The second room was just ok for cleanliness…

The staff was very nice and helpful. The hotel itself has a great free breakfast and is close to downtown Portland (about 10/12 min drive). However I was not impressed with the room. The room itself was large and the bed was extremely comfortable -all positives. The bathroom shower was not spotlessly clean and the bathroom is SMALL. The sink did not drain properly. Both of our keys stopped working middle of our stay and it was inconvenient to go down to get them fixed. The elevators are very “jumpy” and slow. We did not hate it but would not stay here again.

The hotel was great, my only issues were, the day we arrived we found our bodywash in shower was empty. The next morning I talked to person at front desk who wrote down request to get it refilled. It never was, we had to go buy body wash. Housekeeping was in our room daily-we had new towels, bed made, trash emptied but never refilled body wash. At a minimum on a terminal clean before new occupants the shower products should be checked for refills. Also, disappointed that the cooked eggs at breakfast everyday were only served with cheese. as someone who can't eat cheese, this limited me. I do appreciate the desk clerk who assisted with getting some needed documents printed for me.

Not only the rooms were smelly but also did not give us the room we requested (they gave us two small beds instead of 1 king without telling us, and this was after we requested to change the room because it stunk).

clean , quiet room. check in was easy , staff was friendly. only spent the night and left early for the airport. very close to the airport so the was convenient.
