University Plaza Hotel and Convention Center Springfield

The front desk staff told me when I checked in that the air conditioning had been fixed and the room should cool down in an hour or so. I dropped my bags in the room, set the temp to 65, and went to the bar. 2 hours later I went back to my room and the room temp had not changed...hot. at this point it was late, I could not go any where else, so I suffered in the hot un air conditioned room all night. The next morning I went to the front desk to complain and tell them the staff had lied. I expected a huge discount or free stay. All they offered me was 20 % off. seriously 20% that is an insult. I learned my lesson with this hotel....dont trust them.

Their AC can't keep up. Thermostat was set at 60 degrees before I even entered the room and it felt 90 degrees. Reached my hand up to feel if cold air was coming out of the vent and the vent had mold all over it. I got a new room that felt 80 degrees and no visible mold. They gave me a complimentary breakfast but the scrambled eggs were half cooked yellow egg liquid. At 9:20 AM housekeeping knocked while I was getting dressed to check out. I shouted still here. They knocked again. I yelled louder still in here. They knocked a 3rd time. I opened the door half-dressed and I said I know you can hear me I'm literally yelling that I'm still in here. Two housekeepers asked if they could come in and change the sheets and swap towels. While I'm getting dressed to check out? No! This place has so many issues.

For the price this was very outdated. The remote did not work. We had to go to front desk for toilet paper as our roll was almost gone. Toilet seat had 1 bolt holding it. Wall trum and walls were deteriorating. Overall not worth the price.

We had asked for towels on the first of 2 nights due to a shortage for our family and had to ask again the next day because we still had not received them. We had to also reach out to get the bed sheets for the pull out couch. The same with toilet paper and kleenex. I had to go back to the front counter twice because we had no toilet paper. Seemed like it would have been a nice hotel 25 years ago but not much had been maintained.

Shower took awhile to heat up, but once it did it was good.

My room was meh. There was a big chunk of carpet missing in front of the bathroom, the sink drain took forever. I brushed my teeth and then took a shower and the sink was still draining when I got out of shower. Room 618. Bed was huge and comfortable. The decor is very dated. The couch in the room was played. The place was very clean and bed was comfy. Not bad for the price!

To management, walk up to the second level and look down. Clean all the dust you can see that has settled. Someone clean up the spilled paint on the carpets. Pick up the trash outside.

Great location ss we were going to the Springfield Cardinals game. We always like staying here.

The king bed in room 927 was HARD. The AC did not work well...I did not complain or change rooms because we were going to a concert and we didn't have time and after the concert we were too tired to move...But I had a fan with me that made it bearable to sleep. I hate complaining but yall need to know !

I requested our rooms to be turned over mainly for fresh towels and trash to be removed and they never came. It took several requests for me to even get towels to the point of having to go down to lobby and get them myself to haul up to the 6th floor. The bathtub was clogged up and water stands at your ankles while you shower. The tub was dirty. Also, the revolving door was broken and as I arrived I was trying to get in the other doors and had 3 staff members stand and watch me try to get in with my luggage and not even offer to hold a door open. This hotel is not what it used to be. I would not recommend.

Wasn’t what we expected was very hot

Air conditioning did not work in my room and stayed around 77 degrees the entire stay.
