Island Grand at TradeWinds

We loved having easy beach access, plenty of good places to eat around town, and fun areas nearby to explore like John’s Pass, the St. Pete Pier, and downtown. The resort itself was clean and well maintained, and one of our favorite things was having access to both TradeWinds properties. It made everything really convenient and gave us even more amenities and activities to enjoy during our stay. Overall, we had a great family trip and really enjoyed both the resort and St. Pete. We would definitely come back.

The main downside is that the hotel is quite old and could definitely use some updating and renovation. Another issue is the elevators. There are only four elevators for such a large and busy resort, so the wait can be very long, especially during peak hours. Unfortunately, the weather during our stay was horrible. Because of the storms, they closed many of the attractions, amenities, and even access to the beach at times. During our entire stay, we were only able to enjoy the beach for about three hours and the resort amenities for about the same amount of time. I strongly recommend checking the weather forecast carefully before booking or traveling here, because bad weather can significantly limit what you are able to enjoy at the resort. Overall, we still enjoyed the hotel because of the excellent location, beach, food, service, and amenities. However, the age of the property, the limited number of elevators, and how much bad weather can affect the resort experience are important things to consider.

Beds were terrible, room was dirty when we arrived but the cleaners took care of that after their first visit. The property is very run down. Would be very nice if they would put so work and effort into the place.

Many of the pool chairs have no umbrellas for shade. The pools are small The staff is nice but for the price they charge it’s not a great value.

Our room wasn't ready when we got there but they did give us a late checkout and a credit to make up for it. Our Jr sweet courtyard view was nice and roomy. They did have coffee in the room but if you want to bring your own, you'll need filters.

Kids loved it and they want to go back.

The room we had did not look nearly as nice as the one on the website. Terrible bathroom setup without storage. Room was dark.

Stayed for one night was amazing the ducks in the water around the resort and the boats in the water parking was easy and convenient many restaurants inside the property and outside the room had a mini kitchen microwave and fridge and mini sink ac was perfect and the bathroom was on point very clean the beach was very nice here and the guest was very friendly to each other the courtyard looks really nice water features lily was nice with the flowers I will be back

After seeing the condition of the room, I called the front desk and asked to be moved to a better room. I was told that nothing was available, even though the room clearly had multiple issues. The second night was even worse. There was loud construction directly above our room, making it impossible to sleep. I called the front desk four different times to report the noise. My last call was at 2:56 a.m., and nothing was done to resolve the situation. The lack of response and concern from the staff was extremely frustrating. For the price of this hotel, I expected a clean, safe, and comfortable stay with responsive customer service. Instead, I experienced poor cleanliness, safety concerns, sleepless nights, and a complete lack of assistance from management. I would not stay here again and cannot recommend this hotel.

After staying at the Tradewinds many times before this visit was very disappointing from all aspects. I would be happy to talk to management about our recent stay.

It was good

Tropical view room was clean and cery comfortable. The daily pool side games/activities were enjoyed by our entire family. We especially loved the number of pools available to us, beach access, and beach slide.

Property was ok but not good enough for the price they charge per night. We did not have housekeeping everyday unless you requested it. There are 5 pools but very small and always packed.

Other than that, everything was very good. I also think the evenings would be even better if there were more lively entertainment or parties. During the summer, the playground and kids' play area should stay open until 9:00 PM, and the evening parties and entertainment should continue until at least 11:00 PM or even midnight to better match the vacation atmosphere.

Family friendly! Clean property amazing views! Definitely coming back.

We enjoyed our stay at Island Grand but not enough adult activities. Wasn’t able to use the pool or hot tub due to both being occupied by lots of children. We enjoyed the beach and that’s where we spent most of our time. This is definitely a resort for families with children which is a great place to vacation. Staff was friendly. The lobby of Island Grand has a nice bar area and would be nice to have music entertainment. It seems wasted space for such a nice lobby area.
