BLVD Hotel and Studios Universal-Hollywood, an Ascend Collection Hotel

When we arrived the hotel staff informed us that the elevator was not working. The only option were stairs that had no lighting just a sky light. The room was not well cleaned and the AC did not work properly. After checking in the power went out in the hotel. The stairway at that point became very concerning with no lighting flowing in from the lobby. The hotel did not provide any solutions or assistance with the issues and we were not given any partial refund or anything for the lack of power.

The elevator was out and I was traveling with a elderly woman who fortunately we were able to use her Walker instead of her wheelchair or we would have been entirely screwed. When we got there. They claim to have sent an email but there was no email anywhere from them nor did the lady who checked in after me received an email. I had to try to help my 64-year-old mother who's had three-strokes walk up the stairs and then go back down the stairs to get her Walker. The front desk person seemed irritated when I told them we needed to be on the second floor and no higher since they don't have any first floor rooms and the stairs were going to be dangerous enough going up one level. They're doing modifications to the facility so we were hearing the saws and other construction noises as early as 7:00 a.m. And as late as 11:00 p.m.. The kick plate on our front door was missing screws. So my mom tripped over it twice while leaving because if you touched it at all it popped up, and the shower was broken so you could not toggle between the overhead or the handheld and it just had both of them blasting on you the whole time.

Staff was very kind and place was nice. I wish they had the ac on for our room, when we got in there it was so hot but eventually cooled off when we turned the ac on

Cute lobby with a friendly bar tender. Cleaning staff was very friendly. I would recommend as this hotel was very close to Universal Studios.

Convenient location, and the parking is perfect. The staff are the best. They could have not been more helpful and nice. Great Staff!!!

checking in was easy , as well asked for a late check out for an additional fee and front desk made it very easy for us. room was clean when we got to the property.

This hotel was very nice, very accommodating. Even with the elevator down! The bartender was very friendly. I would stay here again.

Pool is very small hotels are outdated overall not to great

The hotel is a great place to stay for a visit to Universal Studios. I would recommend walking to the park instead of waiting for the shuttle. It's not a long walk and is less crowded. The room was clean and the lobby market has a decent selection of snacks. However, our room smelled overwhelmingly of bleach and the AC was too loud. Also, the elevator was almost always out of order during the four days that we were there. The parking is convenient and covered. It is a good value for the price

While it is close to Universal, it is an 8-min walk from the shuttle that drops you off at the park. The room price per night was competitive, but right at check in, you are charged $21/night for parking and a $17/day ‘resort fee’. Resort fee? It’s an economy-priced hotel with zero amenities, unless of course u count the tiny freezing pool that is located in the parking lot (of all places) and needs reception to unlock the door to be used each and every time. Or maybe it’s a ‘resort’ because of the sad fitness room that has one old treadmill, one elliptical machine, no weights, no mirrors, and is only open from 7am-7pm. I guess that part wasn’t too bad, since I got a good workout hauling our luggage and stroller up three flights of stairs because the elevator was broken the entire time. It didn’t feel resort-like when you entered your dirty room, and certainly didn’t feel resort-like walking through the dingy halls. It did feel like you did get away though, because the WiFi reception in the rooms was so poor it took me forever to check in with work. I didn’t even bother using it for our personal devices. If the proximity to the park is worth all the above to you, then have at it. Having stayed there, I agree with other reviews that the juice just isn’t worth the squeeze.

The staff went out of their way to be helpful and friendly. I had an personal issue come up and they were happy to help out!

The only issue we had was with the shower knob, it was a bit confusing, but instructions were posted on the wall.

Front desk staff was very kind & helpful. They were able to hold our bags after we checked out which was great so we could spend the day at Universal. It was hard to turn the shower on, even with instructions. Free welcome drinks only available from 5p-7p was a bummer so we missed those. Fine hotel, walkable to universal if you are fit, uber is only about $10.

Check-in and the staff were amazing very easy very accommodating. We arrived early and were able to check in and leave for Universal Studios. When we arrived late in the evening, our room key was ready for us. We were disappointed to find out they do not have a restaurant of any sort. Property seemed clean and well maintained. When we got to our room, it was very hot. The staff did not have the Air Conditioner on to make sure we came to a cool room on an extremely hot and humid day. It kind of smelled like a locker room. The room was very clean very spacious and beautiful. The bed was uncomfortable and so were the pillows. It could be a preference thing on our part. we were disappointed at how small the TV was compared to the distance from the bed. There’s only one ice machine located on the third floor, which was a little inconvenient. The bathroom was an interesting set up. No bathtub, which is fine but it was an open shower, no doors no curtain just the shower and a toilet on the other side of the bathroom with the sink and two drains. So when we took a shower, the water got all over the entire floor and I had to use towels to stop up the water so that if we went to the bathroom in the middle of how was the night we wouldn’t slip. In my opinion, that is a lawsuit waiting to happen. Overall it was a decent experience but there is definitely room for improvement
