Easy check in, breakfast was good. Bed was comfortable

For pro’s, the staff were friendly and as helpful as they could be. I grew up in the area, and this is a new-ish hotel, so it was clean and the room looked pretty stylish. Unfortunately, I had a some major issues with the room itself, despite the appearance. First, there was a bright light that flashed every 20 seconds or so that prevented me from sleeping the first night of our stay. The phone in our room did not work, so I was unable to report the issue without going down to the desk. When I did, they sent maintenance to our room to fix a leak (??) and left without making any fixes. He then told the manager our room was empty. The manager then proceeded to tell me that the room I was staying in had no guests; eventually she was able to confirm I was, in fact, staying in the room I told her I was in. Maintenance went back up to our room and told me the light was “fine” and that it must be because I am a smoker. I am not a smoker, and it was not the fire alarm that was flashing - it was a “knight” security system. Eventually, he covered the light with tape. Then, there was an issue with the shaving foot rest not being secured to the wall. The second I put my foot on it, it collapsed, causing me to slip in the shower. It was very scary! I told the manager and they said they would remove the fixture, but never did. A dangerous and exhausting stay.

Terrible that the cost of the room was so high but then charging parking on top of that. You could park at the Walmart for free next time.

We stayed only one night but we wished we could have stayed longer. Breakfast was delicious, the room was spacious, and the staff was extremely helpful. Toothbrushes were forgotten at home but the front desk hooked us up with complementary toothbrushes. The hotel is very conveniently located right by the freeway. I will definitely be staying here again.

Checking in was great. The clerk was very friendly. Breakfast was good as well. Two waffle machines going! Other hot items, eggs, bacon/sausage, toast, oat meal. Fresh fruit and yogurt. Coffee and choice of juices.

Signage inadequate drove through mall delivery to find the hotel front door I’ve stayed at other HIS where hospitality was gratefully on display. At HIS Thousand Oaks getting into my wallet was not hospitality. Example: 1. Front desk displays items to purchase. I had just drove several hours would have been nice to see smiling faces and a bowl of fruit or cookies. 2. Your parking is at the back end of a mall. Your front desk employee was cloyingly sweating as he described how my car would be tagged if I didn’t display a parking tag. He actually showed me the tow tag. I’ve stayed at other HIS and was not charged for parking. I felt coerced to pay for parking. 3. I wanted to go for a walk. Dodging cars in a Walmart parking lot was not safe. 4. I checked in at 3:00 pm I booked two rooms through booking.Com. at check in I requested an adjoining room. I was traveling with my mom who is 99 years old and family. I was told since I used a third party booking and did not let them know my needs I could not have an adjoining room. The room we were assigned had an adjoining room door. I did not hear or see anyone use that adjoining room. My family lives in the area next time I’ll stay somewhere else where hospitality and piece of mined are available.
