    Great restaurants!

The room was really small and had weird smell to it. The staff was nice…. the hotel is walking distance to union market.

There is no sound proofing in the rooms. I was able to listen to conversations taking place next room clearly. Absolutely refuse to stay on the first floor, as the room I was staying was facing the parking lot and due to no sound proofing I couldn’t hear everything all the time. I actually left the hotel in the middle of my second night to stay somewhere else. When I wanted to check out earlier than scheduled, I expressed my experience with the poor insulation and the staff at the checkout didn’t say a single word to console. Will never come back and do not recommend.

Rooms were cozy, but well maintained. Staff was excellent.

Hotel has a great location and has a good design vibe feel. Aloof unhelpful staff. Expensive parking. Food options around area are excellent. Lime bikes or scooters are great for heading down to the sites.

The room could have been cleaner but it was still cool. The rooftop bar and breakfast in the lobby was good.

This is a clean establishment, but you may not want to stay here if you enjoy average size bathrooms with sinks in the bathroom, irons and ironing boards, available plastic cutlery, snacks, early check ins, quiet, or ample hangars or a closet. I could hear everything going on inside the building and outside the building, the fire alarms were pulled multiple times, there is no phone in the rooms, and even if you call ahead to reserve an early check-in, you will be met with separate staff who deny any availability and will tell you to come back in 4-5 hours. I wont stay here again, but I did appreciate how clean the property was.

The rooms were okay, but the space was not as big as it was displayed on the internet. The queen bedroom specifically is tighter than the room with two twins beds, so you’re better off getting a room with the twins beds (same price as the queen-sized room). Also, the bathrooms are very cramped and I recall it being difficult to shower on a daily basis, considering that there are no shelves for you to put your soap down. One last thing, that was a highly concerning factor was the fire alarm in the room. There were times when it would randomly go off in the first room that we stayed in, and it was so loud. The noise was similar to a natural disaster alarm that signals the initial part of a natural disaster. It was going off so much that we eventually decided to switch rooms. Still, with the new room, the fire alarm went off twice. That was definitely the part of the stay that irritated us the most. Also, I don’t know why, but there was so much unnecessary noice both inside/outside the hotel. There was noise in the hallway from people slamming doors, and cleaning staff talking loudly outside of the hotel rooms. However, the staff were nice and helpful when we needed further accommodation arrangements.

    Lovely place

The A/C didn't work. The "thermostat" in the rooms were so complex you needed an engineering degree to operate them. When the building manager come to reset the thermostat, soon after he left it shut itself off. We had three nights with no A/C. DO NOT stay at Hotel Nell in the summer. They don't really seem to care. I note that the Bolgiano's restaurant or breakfast was very good.

The fire alarm erroneously went off almost every day - morning, afternoon, evening which was very annoying

It's a great location only 15 minute walk from the Metro.

Great overall experience. Fire alarm went off twice, but otherwise would stay again!

Always a go to hotel when staying in DC. In such a great neighborhood too lots to do. Parking situation is kind of weird but so is all parking in DC.
