I did have breakfast one day, they give you a discount coupon. The entire breakfast was scrumptious! And the best donuts I may ever have had. Bottom line it is a lot to weigh when picking a hotel.

    Clean room, good staff.

The biggest downside is that there is no elevator. Our room was two floors up, and the only way to reach the stairs was by walking through the restaurant, which was inconvenient, especially with luggage and a dog. The room also didn’t have a refrigerator. Overall, a lovely stay with great staff, but the lack of an elevator may be challenging for some guests.

    Staff maravilloso

It is a lovely and clean older building which is nicely maintained. Interesting art is everywhere including the bedroom. We had a nice clean room with no tv and a window unit air conditioner, which for us was fine. It was a walk up and one of the nice young men took my suitcase up to the second floor. The dining room is beautiful with excellent service and the food is wonderful. The Inn is near DuPont Circle.

The Tabard Inn was a wonderful stay for our team staying overnight in D.C. Not only can you see history in the city, but you can live in it at the Tabard. The restaurant has amazing coffee and dessert for a late night treat, and the staff were exceptionally helpful. Thanks for a wonderful stay.

The room was clean but the beds are old and creaky so if you toss and turn a lot it will wake you up. The pillows were very flat as well so if that’s an issue bring your own. The bathroom had this big claw tub shower combo that was very high off the ground when you enter and exit. There are no hand rails so it’s a fall risk people should be aware of. The restaurant was great! The food was well prepared, the portions were very satisfying and the staff was very friendly.

The shower had poor water pressure and the small hallway restroom was stuffy with a bit of an odor. Overall a nice but old inn with a good location if you want or need to be in that part of DC.

Finally, I enjoyed brunch at the hotel, particularly the donut!

Well, be aware that a "private" bath may still mean going outside of your room to get there. I had booked a room with a private bath and a queen bed with a memory foam mattress, but when I got there I was put on the 4th floor which was a walk up to a room with two beds and the private bath was a bathroom across the hall that was technically shared with another room, but that room was empty. They did changes the next day and I did get a better room with an actual private bath, so there's that. Never got the memory foam mattress as advertised. If you like an early breakfast, this is not the place for that, as the restaurant is not open until 10am. There is good strong coffee available in the lobby every morning. It's a quirky, quaint place I would've loved in my 20's...60's not so much. Very kind staff.

But, if basic creature comforts are important to you, I suggest looking elsewhere. You enter the room and are immediately transported back to the late 1800s or early 1900's. Do not look for an elevator, in-room refrigerator, coffee maker, microwave or TV. Location was great but after a long day of exploring DC and going to museums this Inn was certainly missing the amenities that I would like to come back to in my hotel. Fortunately, many restaurants are within walking distance, just do not plan on keeping any leftovers or having cold beverages on hand without 1st going to a store. I also was not pleased with the transparency on Hotels.com, as none of this was detailed when I booked the room, as it would have changed my decision completely. Furthermore, onsite parking was listed under the amenities, either valet for $50 per night or a Tabard garage, what was missing was the cost of the self-park option! I highly suggest better transparency on the details so that travelers know what to expect and can make an informed decision. I certainly will do a lot more research before booking another room on this site.

Nice property with friendly and helpful staff. Overall, we had a great stay. The only downside was the bathroom in our room. It wasn’t very private because it had an opening near the top, so you could hear everything happening in the bathroom from the rest of the room. That made it a bit uncomfortable.

My room smelled like wood smoke. Furnishings and carpet were very old and worn. Found hairs in the shower and on the towels that were definitely not mine.

Lovely place and I always enjoy staying there. Spacious rooms, no distracting television noises, and a great bar menu.

Such a lovely establishment and experience if you have never done an older Inn before! Definitely explore the property as there are many hidden gems within the building.

We did not eat at the inn. We went to the bar to have a drink. The only thing was there were no TVs.
