The problem
The Challenge: No Visibility, No Control, and Employees Getting Turned Away at Hotels
Before Engine, ProLift's travel program was wide open. Employees booked on whatever third-party platform they wanted, and the company had no visibility into spend, no ability to enforce policy, and no way to flag out-of-policy bookings before they happened.
The real breaking point? Employees arriving at job sites, often remote, often on tight project timelines, only to find their hotel reservations didn't exist. The previous platform had a persistent inventory problem: confirmed bookings that weren't actually confirmed. For a company whose crews work in industries where showing up on time isn't optional, that was a hard stop. Having team members show up without a place to stay as an experience they needed to solve for.

The Evaluation: Usability, Flexibility, and Real Savings
ProLift evaluated several platforms before landing on Engine. What made Engine stand out wasn't just the inventory reliability. It was two things working together: a genuinely user-friendly interface, and FlexPro.
FlexPro was the closer. ProLift's crews deal with last-minute schedule changes constantly, projects shift, timelines compress, travel plans get flipped at the last minute. The ability to change or cancel trips on the fly and actually recover that money made Engine a no-brainer.
"The user interface, the website, it's very user friendly, but FlexPro really sold it. We have a lot of last-minute changes, so the ability to get money back when plans shift is a really big benefit." Patrick, Accounting Manager at Prolift Rigging
The solution
The Solution: Guard Rails With Flexibility
Engine gave ProLift something they didn't have before: a travel program with structure. Employees now book within clearly defined policy tiers. They know exactly what's in bounds and what isn't before they book, no ambiguity, no after-the-fact corrections. And for a company with independently operated branches spread across nearly 20 locations, that clarity matters.
Engine also expanded what employees could book. Unlike consumer aggregators that surface only the major chains, Engine's inventory includes independent and non-branded properties — a meaningful advantage for ProLift crews working construction and remote project sites where a Marriott simply doesn't exist nearby.
Travelers keep their loyalty points, billing moved from a painful manual process to clean weekly imports, and the relationship with the Engine team were big wins for ProLift.
"It's a bit different from our previous platform. We had never talked to our rep unless there was a problem. Lexie is always available, emails, quarterly reviews, check-ins. It's a great partnership to be a part of." Patrick, Accounting Manager at Prolift Rigging
The Impact: Savings, Compliance, and a Rollout That Actually Worked
The numbers are straightforward: ProLift is saving tens of thousands of dollars every quarter. The savings surface consistently in quarterly business reviews — $10K, $20K, $30K at a time, driven in large part by FlexPro reducing the cost of changes and cancellations.
Beyond cost, the travel experience is measurably better. Employees aren't getting turned away at hotels. Compliance has increased without mandates — the program is structured enough that booking in-policy is just the path of least resistance.
And the rollout itself? For a company as structurally fragmented as ProLift, where individual branches operate independently and can't be forced to adopt anything, the organic adoption of Engine has been one of the most successful tool rollouts they've had.
"Getting people to use the right logo is hard enough, the fact that so many branches have embraced Engine on their own is a testament to its usability. We can't demand people use something — we can only give them good options. Engine became the obvious choice." Patrick, Accounting Manager at Prolift Rigging
