Residence Inn by Marriott Boston Downtown / South End

They didn’t explain the incidental hold to us and then took a lot of extra money out of my account that no one could explain. After asking twice, we were told they’d get back to us within 20-30 mins but never did. When we checked out I asked again about the extra money taken out of my account and was shut down. They said it was a hold and when I asked why that wasn’t explained when we checked in, I was shut down again. I explained that they had practically emptied my bank account with the extortionate extra charges, and the response was ‘okay, have a safe journey’. Extremely rude and unhelpful.

Everything was perfect apart from the restaurant was permanently closed as was the bar? I find it strange that a hotel as nice as this only provides a small snack counter, self service, of course but nothing else. Don't get me wrong there's a few very good restaurants close by but given the amount of rough sleepers on the sidewalk you wouldn't really want to stroll through them at night. So we ordered in. Apart from that there's a fantastic shop across the road 3 minutes away that sells everything it's brilliant 😃.

Maintaence tean need to check securitybox, didnt work, in addition the sink and the faucet has an issue of distance, the counter top holenfor the faucetis not equidistan. ROOM 421 .

Room was cleaned well. Front staff is always chit chatting with each other not to friendly but notice it was a Boston thing not too friendly.

Very polite staff and daily breakfast offered varied selection.

Everything Size of the room Kitchen was well equipped (can add 1 or more cooking utensils) Otherwise everything was perfect Nothing

Breakfast was not that great.. every day same menu and so less choices.

It was very relaxing and t he most low maintenance trip I've taken in a while. Meaning I barely had to put in an effort in figuring out the details of my stay and was able to fully enjoy my experience. Very happy with my stay.

The street noise at night was very loud and the neighborhood was not a place to walk around at night.

Location and proximity to public transport, universities and restaurants.

Our stay was pleasant. Staff was very friendly and efficient. We were welcomed by Iyanna Beach on a very friendly and professional way...she was so kind to arrange getting us into our room early, and when she learned that our visit was one to celebrate my birthday she surprised me with a card from the staff and a little snack. First the good. (The good deffinitely overweights a few issues.) The king bed room we stayed in was very roomy, very cozy and very convenient. It had a sofa that was comfortable to sleep on as well. It had a kitchenette with a large high quality fridge, a sink, dishwasher, electric stove. It had all utensils someone will need to prepare simple food, which we were doing in the mornings and for supper as well which helped to reduce the overall cost of the stay in a city where dining outside is very expensive. The bathroom was very large, clean and comfortable. The personnel was very polite, forthcoming and friendly. Everything in this hotel is new and and in proper condition. When I contacted the front desk with a few small issues, it took them literally a few minutes to dispatch someone to address it. The hotel is close to North Eastern and Berklee colleges; ten and twenty minute walk. The location is on the edge of a very sketchy neighborhood with roaming drug addicts. I personally had no issues walking there, but I wouldn't recommend doing it at late hours. We were exclusively either walking to the center in the mornings and taking Uber or Lyft rides back and forth. Despite the issue with the location not being the best in Boston, I still grade this hotel with five stars.

Great location. Close to Northeastern and lot's of good dining options. Room was comfortable and the sofa bed came in handy. Has valet parking which helps due to limited street parking. Made our stay in Boston lovely.

Hotel was nice considering it’s not the best neighborhood. Breakfast was busy and not the best layout and just the same things every day. Staff was nice. Hope you don’t get loud stompers above you cause it’s not the most sound proof against that and all the sirens around you.
