Inn at Depot Hill

Beautiful historical property located in a terrific neighborhood. A couple blocks away from the sea cliffs or Capitola Village. Easy on-site parking. Very kind and accommodating owner and staff. Groovy (the dog) will brighten up your day! Will stay again.

Charming, beautiful, wonderful location, historical. Romantic, friendly. The Inn at Depot Hill doesn't have a traditional front desk, and staff leave around 6 or 7 p.m. The staff communicated well once we contacted them, but the limited check-in hours weren't clear when I booked. I only learned by proactively reaching out that, for a late arrival, they would leave our room and side-door keys in a lockbox. We also weren't told that our room was on the second floor. Fortunately, we had no trouble with the stairs, but this could be a serious issue for anyone with mobility limitations. The late check-in process could be much clearer. A short video showing where to find the lockbox, how to enter the property, and how to locate the rooms would be very helpful. We arrived around 11 p.m. and had a difficult time finding our room because the layout isn't straightforward. I also found the breakfast selection very limited. Given the $650 nightly rate, I would expect a better breakfast offering, perhaps a small continental buffet where guests can serve themselves. Even simple additions such as boiled eggs and hash browns would make a meaningful difference and should be relatively easy to provide.

Amazing stay!

Breakfast was good, maybe not as much as I would have liked. Staff were very good. Hotel is very picturesque. Good location relative to Capitola beach. Pillows were a bit too hard, room was a bit stuffy. Had some trouble with door locks at first. Should have ceiling fans.

For the price of the room, we expected to have a few more amenities like a comfortable bed, soft pillows, a lamp for reading on both sides of the bed, a TV manual to figure out how to get different stations, and lastly a nicer breakfast.

Great location We stayed in the main building, downstairs. Our windows faced the courtyard and you could hear conversations going on. We were not able to sleep with our windows open.

The hotel was nice. But I didn't like that breakfast started at 8am. Many hotels start at 6 or 7.

This was my wife and I 5th year wedding anniversary and I must say that this stay for my wife and I was tantalizing of the senses and made us feel as though we were transferred into another country. We stayed in the Kyoto room and it was amazingly astonishing. I recommend to anyone looking for an oasis ot retreat to. We will definitely be returning (soon).

I thought the inn was one of the most charming places I have stayed. I stayed in the Paris suite and I loved the stay. My mother stayed in the Delft suite. Both were lively and charming in different ways. I wished I had stayed another night to enjoy the room more. There are some small and easily correctable issues… better attention to cleaning doors and light switches. Rooms could use a little more TLC. Details matter and those have been overlooked. Breakfast was not great. Again, a little more effort and focus on simplicity would go a long way. All of this said, I loved the stay despite the issues. The place is very, very charming.

Inn at Depot Hill is always amazing! We have stayed there many times and the manager/staff, food and rooms are exceptional.

The bed is kinda shot. needs to be replaced. lumpy and too firm.
