Best Western Carlsbad by the Sea

Originally booked room for 2 nights. Had to check out early because of a medical problem and had to return to Yuma to see my doctor. Talked to the manager and he understood and said that our reservation was prepaid but he would see that one night would be refunded back to me. We try to say at this location at least once a year for out massive family reunion and have never been disappointed in the hotel, the staff (especially the lady who oversees the breakfast-----she is great).

Everyone was nice and very professional.

The room was comfortable, yet small in size, but still acceptable for a single traveler. The front desk staff interacted with were friendly and helpful. The pool was kept very clean and I observed numerous people enjoying it while they were staying there at the motel. The Continental breakfast had the usual selection of food like eggs, potatoes, sausage, waffles, and baked goods.

We did not have hot water our night there. In the morning it took 15 minutes to get hot water. Not ok with this.

Nice location just 1.5 blocks from a nice beach area. Disappointed in the hotel itself however for the following reasons: 1. Required a $25 early check in/check out fee, even for 30 minutes early and the room not being ready yet. 2. Bedroom window wouldn't lock. 3. ANTS! I booked the suite with two double beds for 3 nights, and we had a bad ant problem from night one between the beds. I requested help, and the next day someone (in a hurry) came with a can of bug spray. I asked if it was safe for us to stay in the room as my two children were with me, and he looked at the can and said "I don't know, I've done it before? I have to hurry and get back I'm the only one here." And proceeded to spray. I asked for someone to vacuum any ants remaining and he said it'd be the following day. The ant problem remained. 4. Breakfast was bland and not as advertised.

Staff at the front desk who checked us in (forgot his name though) was really helpful. Gave us suggestions on the best restaurants in the area

Awesome Breakfast. Nice pool and hot tub. We upgraded our room and essentially had a condo with 2 king beds which my kids loved. Only issue was the pool is supposed to be closed by 9pm and people were swimming in it much later than that which was noisy. Other than that no complaints!

Great value!! The bed was super comfortable and whole room was surprisingly spacious, clean and welcoming, especially for the price compared with other hotels in the area. We would definitely come back.

There were a few things that needed fixing they were on top of it. The only drawback back it was VERY LOUD right on the freeway and the suites were not impressive. Staff was nice and the bed was ok.

We chose this hotel primarily because of its location near LEGOLAND, and we were very pleased with our stay. We were looking for a hotel that was affordable, safe, and family friendly, and this Best Western exceeded our expectations. While we would have loved to stay onsite at LEGOLAND, we were also visiting other attractions in the area and needed a more versatile location. The hotel was clean, well maintained, and felt safe throughout our stay. I would happily recommend it to any family looking for a reliable, comfortable, and budget friendly hotel in the area. One highlight was the complimentary breakfast. I have a picky 7 year old, and even he was happy with the options available. He especially loved making his own waffles. The breakfast also included sausage links, scrambled eggs, and seasoned potatoes. There were plenty of simple, kid friendly choices while still offering satisfying options for adults.The pool was another great feature and gave the kids a chance to burn off some energy before bedtime. I also appreciated the guest laundry, which was very convenient for families traveling with children. While I wish it opened earlier in the morning, the hours of 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. were still helpful. One thing that stood out was the hotel's overall cleanliness. Located next to a La Quinta, the difference in appearance and upkeep was noticeable. Best Western looked cleaner, better maintained, and felt safer.

Everything was nice. Property is a little dated, but was expected. Staff were great! Maintenance man Gilbert was especially helpful in removing some street tar from off a shoe! Location to beach and attractions was convenient. Our shower head leaked at the wall and we did have some ants in the room.

Room was flooded earlier in the week. The carpet was still soaking wet in the main room. We let the front desk know, and they were going to put us in another room. They called the GM on the phone, and he said no, we could not move rooms even though the carpet was soaked. Front desk staff was very helpful. That room never should have been occupied by anyone, and full blame goes to the GM for renting it out. Would not stay here agian. Do not recommend staying here.

Great outdoor pool and delicious hot breakfast. Very helpful and congenial staff! TVs did not work!

The staff was very nice and helpful. Did not care for the same old food being served everyday for breakfast. A different variety of food would of been great

Paid extra for a room with a kitchenette which had no crockery/pans and on asking about items to use were were told there were not kits available and to go to the Dollar store to purchase some

All the staff was very friendly and helpful. The rooms were very clean. The beds were comfortable. The pool being heated was awesome for night swims. The breakfast was delicious. We will definitely be returning.
