Many years ago, this used to be our go to place. It was a bed-and-breakfast sweet and quaint. We didn’t realize that it sold. I mean it must’ve sold. It’s no longer a bed-and-breakfast my bad I didn’t double check that. The rooms are so unique and pretty, but Biggest thing is that you need to pay attention before booking there is no AC just window fans. normally the other time of the year that may not be an issue but we were there at the end of July and like other areas around the globe it’s getting warmer.. I strongly advise that they don’t book the Balboa room during that time, It has one window/fan and it actually travels over your head at night which the first night we woke up with sore throats. After 10 AM the room becomes unbearable in that room stifling even we called to find out if we could move to another room thank goodness they had one other room so we moved all our stuff into that. The manager was very accommodating on that thank goodness, otherwise we would’ve had to cancel and find another place. By the way you have a step the last step on one of one of the back steps that needs to be fixed or could be dangerous if someone steps wrong on it and of course be warned about that that you do need to transport your luggage up many steps if you’re young not an issue possibly for some of the rooms. If your older it could be and it is self check in. Unfortunately I think they’re gonna have to invest in ac as areas around the globe are seeming to heat up more.

Young man very unhelpful. Made us directly aware you would have to get own linens.

Such a find so close to town! We walked everywhere and loved the bedroom we stayed in!

Location was clean and accommodating. They reached out immediately to give us all the check-in information. It was a big, clean, comfortable room. Giant soaking tub and nice shower, very spacious and clean. I was just treating my bf to a staycation…he can’t stop talking about how comfortable the bed was! There’s a rooftop deck for smoking and watching the sunset or sunrise. My only complaint is that it was so comfortable we fell asleep in a great spot earlier than normal! *We checked out the Vigilucci’s Seafood and Steakhouse. We drive by it all the time as we live in Leucadia. The service was aggressive and dismissive. The food was unseasoned, seafood rubbery and fishy. The baked potato was literally raw inside, and when I asked for butter when I was finally able to get someone, they brought me about two sticks worh in a trough. It felt like an f@?! you for trying to make the food better. The view was fantastic. We are both service industry and still took care of them, but I recommend literally any other place to eat for the price they charge there. *We’ve been to Don’s Country Kitchen in Oceanside, but not in Carlsbad before. Breakfast was phenomenal with giant portions and great service. It was exactly what you want for the homestyle diner feel! The property was perfect and relaxing and they were very available if needed.

Coffee tea and breakfast snacks in the lobby daily. Room was very clean. Chairs umbrellas beach towels provided free of charge. Great location. AC in the room would have been nice but fans were provided. I did notice portable units in some room windows but evenings cooled substantially so fans worked well.

Room is huge. Property is cute. There was an awful smell in the room. I texted and emailed several times and no one ever answered. Afterwards I received an text asking how my stay was... All automated, no human involved. Also, there is an electric car charger. Don't use it! It killed the battery of my rental car, and I had to spend my vacation morning waiting for a jump...

What a great room for the family! The grounds are pretty with unique plants. There’s no pool but it’s one street to the beach. The hotel has sand buckets and folding chairs to use. On Wed evenings there’s a street market two blocks away. Great restaurants everywhere. I loved the clean, fresh-smelling pillows and sheets.

One night stay in the Newport room. Nice quiet property in a good location. Room was clean & comfortable. Check-in was easy & not seeing any staff was not a problem. Room was warm and a little musty smelling upon 1st entering at 8p, the provided fans were needed. Queen bed was soft and bouncier than our preference.

Stayed in the Pacific room. Each room is uniquely themed, and ours was beautiful. The spa bath was incredible. Bed was comfy and the overall room feels like a home instead of a temporary stay. Price is unbeatable for the location if visiting for the beach/downtown. Free beach chairs/umbrellas are offered for use. Despite being a bit dated and some quirky issues, nothing dealbreaking for us. Will be returning. Parking was tight. Only ever used roadside areas. A few of the doors are closely together reducing the privacy of entering/exiting. A bit "dated" and has its quirks.

great location, within walking distance from Carlsbad main village walk, restaurants, shops and the beach. Price was overrated for a last minute booking, but it was also Memorial day weekend. We were on a road bike trip along the coast and booked the room on the same day, requesting a floor room with easy bike access. We arrived 1 hour after the check in time and found our room was on the second floor and not ready. Fortunately the cleaning lady was on site but said she wasn't informed of our arrival. She promptly gave priority to get the room ready for us and that was much appreciated!
